Trying to decide if I'm brave enough to bleach the vest to see if I can lighten it up and get a little more orange out of it. Anyone try it yet?

Yep, I did it to the vest I picked up off eBay a while back and it turned out the perfect color, just the tailoring was not that great. If I do it I plan on redying it with a mix of red and yellow

It almost looks like it should be a reddish brown/ orange color to me.

That crosses the line from brave to borderline nutty in my book, but I'll have much respect for you if you give it a shot! :D

insanity runs in my family :panic::dumbo:

it's also gotten me this far besides nutty is spending $300 + on a toys outfit so you're all guilty too :)

While I don't have my set in-hand yet, I'm wondering if a bit of the 'Mom jeans' thing can be alleviated by untucking the white check shirt slightly and bunching it over the top of the jeans like above. All the photos I've seen of the built-up figure so far have the shirt tucked tightly into the pants with no natural 'bunching'.

Just a thought. :wink1:

Loving all the photos of the figure build-ups so far! :hi5:

This is a great suggestion, and something I plan on doing with my own :exactly: I'm just worried there won't be enough length to it, as some have said the shirt is a bit short...but I'll see soon enough!

Remember the waist on the pants in the eighties were alot higher. I hate to date myself but it took me forever to get comfortable wearing modern cut jeans when they changed them. If you see the screen pick above the waist is higher, but untucking the shirt and using the water treatment on it may look more natural

I would stay away from water treating the shirt, unless Rainman can confirm that the pattern won't run. I believe it's printed on.

The shirt is not short, don't worry. I have done it to mine already. I'll try to post a pic.

As it was said a lot of people tightly tucked it it which I thought at first was correct but when I just watched the movie I noticed it is a bit loose so I pulled mine out a bit.

I think part of the problem that some people are seeing is that the jeans are "inflating" in this scale when you tuck in the 2 shirts. Almost like a "frump" :lol due to the thickness of material allowed at this scale. So when the shirts tuck in it bulges out the jeans in an unflattering spot on the slim body making it look like "mom jeans".

I think what I'm going to due is remove the snap button that rainman put on the jeans and pull the jeans as tight as I can get and just glue them. This should eliminate some of that look that some are seeing. Then again, I'm really happy with how they look now anyway.

Thanks for the pics :hi5:

I did that very thing to my Malcolm Reynolds figure for the same reason, it's effective.

Yea it's the only thing that has bothered me about the outfit. It just makes the waist too thick and puffed out with it in.

Sorry about the pics they suck.

Here is how I plan to pose mine when done. On the stand though.

Those headless photos are making the attire look even better! Great futzing there...it's really coming together! And removing the snap on the front of the jeans would probably help too! :yess:
