I'm skeptical about how they can use Luke effectively.
If he's just a trainer and doesn't get involve in the battle against Ren and the empire, then how do they explain that?
If he does get involve and he's powerful, then why was he hiding?
If he's not that powerful, and he had to go into hiding in order to survive....then why call him Luke? - Epicurus
Is this the original EP VIII thread, just renamed TLJ..just curious
I'm just wondering if Luke is truly the Last Jedi, would that mean Rey will morph into another type of character![]()
True, true. It would be a very classy and becoming send off to show her CG body cork-screwing through the air while slaughtering FO Stormtroopers left and right. We can only hope.
I'm only asking because someone else took it seriously, but that's a joke, right? Because everyone knows, we need more scenes like the one in ROTS where Palps fights Mace Windu +2

My favourite SW Titles
The Empire Strikes Back
The Return of the Jedi
Attack of the Clones
Revenge of the Sith
Didn’t Care for
A New Hope (dumb)
The Phantom Menace (Dumber)
The Force Awakens (blah)
The Last Jedi (initial reaction quite plain)
Jedi - singular or plural?...
What I wonder is if this title refers to the last of the "Jedi" light side Force users? Disney seems like they want to include force users besides just Jedi and Sith. Perhaps Luke realized the "Jedi" way of using the force is not the correct way to go forward if one is to build a new generation of force users. Maybe one should make peace with using both the light and the dark. I don't know, this title has me thinking and I love it.

This.
The Jedi die with Luke just as the Sith died with Palpatine. What we have here in this new trilogy are two Grey Jedi for protagonists in Rey and Kylo - "Greys" being what the Whills felt would end the seemingly endless galactic conflict of Light vs. Dark.
My prediction is that at the end of this trilogy Rey (The Chosen One resurrected) will hook up with Kylo (Grandson of the original Chosen One) and give birth to a purebred Grey who will bring forth a new age in the Galaxy where the conflict of Light vs. Dark is long gone.
The Phantom Menace actually has an old serial style to it.

My take......
They will make a parallel to 2 sides becoming one.
No more Sith and Jedi.......those 2 parties are gone, they made each other extinct. What will rise is characters who, embody both light and dark...........
Rey will go more Dark....
Kylo will drift to the light as he fears.....
The force will balance within each force user.
Rey and Kylo are siblings, there not going to hook up. Rey & Kylo represent Luke & Leia, however the Force split with light and dark between them. So one is good and the other bad. Han gave the Millenium Falcon to Plutt in exchange to watch over Rey, his daughter.
