I'm not sure about a magnetic eye mechanism. It's all about the execution, of course ... but it feels to me like that might be too small a space and too fiddly a mechanism to pull off in mass production. I kind of prefer the simpler approach of just using your finger. I don't want them to overengineer something and have it work worse than the simple solution. (See: their completely unnecessary magnetic wrist pegs. My Gandalf is beautiful but can barely hold his staff.) I say keep the engineering simple and the artistic execution high.
While I agree with you that I have no problems with the current way moveable eyes are being done, JND seem to have figured it out without it being over engineered. Seems like it would be pretty user friendly. That said, it could be since it's a silicone sculpt, so they can just pop the eyes in from the front rather than potentially needing a two piece system depending on the character/sculpt.

Now go and convince Joost of JazzInc of the benefits of moveable eyes!

While I agree it'd benefit Catwoman, I just don't think he's got the tolerances for it yet. They haven't put out a figure yet aside from the Vulture included with the wings.

I think that was the big hurdle with getting moving eyes into figures, the tolerances required for the molds are just so much tighter for it to look good. We saw what happened with Asmus. It's one of the reasons I think we really only saw it on masked or heavy make up characters, you could simply hide the thick eyelids.

I'd like to see it, but for their first outing, I'd rather them not gamble the sculpt. Let's see if they can get off the ground with a decent release.

But regarding Aragorn, I don't think anyone should be frustrated with their choice of sculpted here. It's unpopular, but InArt has done a great job with the sculpted hair on their releases - I even would go as far as to say I think the sculpted batman and Bruce are better all around. But opinions are like fine fellows.

But here, without question, I think there is no wrong choice.

It’s a matter of cost plus it’s only a small amount of people asking for SERS; they would be ok paying more but the majority who are fine with fixed eyes may not.

But anyway this isn’t the thread for this.

Magnetic eye control just feels like overdoing it? Like installing an escalator to go up three steps. Doesn't seem necessary?
Well for shelf people this is true but imagine doing a foto series outdoor or with some characters. Just using a magnet stick to make him look in a different direction is so much more convienient then removing the head change eyes put it back on make a picture and then change it back again later...
Different uses different needs

Their sculpts being silicone also probably helps reduce the risk of the eye being damaged. I imagine the problem with doing magnetic eyes on current sculpt material would be the pupil rubbing up against the inner eyelid socket when being pulled around towards the magnetic stick. No harm when it's being done against a softer rubbery material like silicone.

I don’t understand all the problems people have with moving eyes on HT and IA figures, it’s not that hard or time consuming.

I have issue with it simply because the route to get there means you have to disturb the hair, if you want to change it a fair bit you'll eventually loosen a lot of strands, obviously you can be extremely careful with it to disturb the hair as little as possible but I'd rather not have to press into styled hair over and over.

I never messed up the hair on my Gandalf, was pretty easy to access and close back up imo.

I'm all for extra sculpts instead of SERS or PERS but with InArt the perception is they must do moving eyes because its more "premium" so i think that trend won't be changing.

I don't really follow your reasoning here. Do you just mean this for Catwoman, or are you saying you would prefer to pay extra on top of Inart's already high prices for another rooted head with a different painted eye position? I wouldn't. I think PERS/SERS is much better value for money.

No I'm saying I'd prefer multiple sculpted head options if it's as Jazz Inc is saying a choice between that and one sculpt with moving eyes. For rooted obviously removing the moving eyes wouldn't allow for two separate sculpts without a price hike
