Thanks, Man! Means so much to get comments like these! Can’t tell you how much I appreciate this!

Really do think once you wet the hair and work with it you can get it looking pretty good.

Took a few days of futzing and washing/cutting the hair.
Finally got it looking good.
Hair was way to long and stringy/curly out of the box. Do feel that when paying these prices everything should be perfect, definitely shouldn’t need this much work with the hair. Not everyone has the balls or skill to customize it. 3rd Inart figure I had to do some work on.
Have a few other nitpicks with the figure, but overall it’s solid.

Thank you. Am on round 3 with my Aragorn's hair, because I grimly did not want to deal with the InArt return process.

It's been a learning experience. And it's taken hours, days. I would have been happy with overly long, curling hair. What I have is dense, rather coarse, large-curled, stubborn mohair. Ultimately mine won't look screen accurate like yours, or like some of the other nice pictures.
Thankfully Aragorn's hair takes a beating through these films and looks different depending on scene.

But I think I'm getting to where it looks Aragorn. E.g. InArt hair rooting, fiber quality, and basic hair trimming is inconsistent. I sure wouldn't buy this fig resale without seeing the sculpt first, to make sure I got hair "where you just need a little water and to pull the bangs forward".

TBH this isn't even my favorite character and I'm sick of looking at Viggo's face in miniature, hours of it, it's like being on some weird reality TV show.

Am done I think; at least he looks Viggo e.g. tamed the poufy coarse mohair (was grimly thinking to try straightener but really didn't want to go that road). Or, am at the limit of my skill set with a 500$ fig. I've wanted to do more with rooting/hair but not like this. I've got no skill in hair cutting either except cautious trimming.

One positive tho, would love to know what adhesive they used, since I pulled a lot on the hair, washed it, etc. Except for expected small shedding - a bonus in my case since I have too much hair - no hair loss. Whatever they used at least on mine was like iron.

Hoping to get my order by Xmas...the wait is excruciating now.
Might go buy some ToyBiz while I wait

Yeah, keep working on it. Inarts rooting is def all over the place with all releases so far.
Like I said, it should be perfect out of the box.
But most need some work and can look amazing if done right. Def understand the feeling of getting sick of his face
Needed to put him aside myself a few times, especially when it’s just not working. In the end it was the bangs in the front that did the trick. Need to cut them to accentuate his likeness. Almost all stock ones I have seen have the hair too long at the front.

Any pics of the progress on your aragorn?

Their Gothmog figure really holds up.

There's also a line of 1/10 scale-ish figures from Diamond Select Toys, with varying quality - the Moria Orc and Uruk are good though.

Yeah, I cautiously cut a few strands of hair for the front - and then with my coarse mohair they didn't want to drape the right way over the plastic widow's peak. For me it took a while to get past the mental block of dealing with this hair, it was gonna have to be larded with product on purpose, after reading about dealing with human thick coarse hair. E.g. weigh it down. Even then, the fiber wanted to do this:


For me it's a bit much to have that much gunk in the hair, sort of negates having rooted hair, and not what I imagined, but there's a relief at not feeling like I need to send this back, or hide it under a hood. I got off lightly tho, no paint damage even messing with the sculpt that much.

No pics yet waiting on a Ranger cloak so I can take him outside, but he sort of looks like this now:


Only with hair that's a lot crispier. The hair ends want to flip up. Fortunately it's Aragorn whose hair is mostly sweaty and disheveled anyway. There's no one way he looks, unlike Legolas who always looks pristine.

But here's a picture of a new "Middle Earth mug". (Folks shouldn't laugh, it's tough finding the right 1/6 to add to dioramas)


Anyway, the customizers here are absolutely correct about folks not knowing what to do with a bad hair job; so maybe I learned some stuff but it wasn't what I was planning. I'd rather choose to learn something, not get a "surprise" with a pricey fig.

That’s the million dollar question but don’t ask kit for updates.

I think InArt is over thinking the magnetic base. If you look at JPT's Silent Hound figure, the feet are magnetic and the base is just a circle of metal. He can have super dynamic poses that way. It may be easier/cheaper for Inart to go with a solid piece of metal underneath the plastic base. I always like to pose my figures with their feet at the edge of the base, and now it is limiting, or I just get one foot catching the base

Seems like they may be bailing on the magnets in general. I will say all the magnets on my Harry Potter are very strong.

I need to mix match all the InArt figures with the bases and see if it's the feet, bases, or both that are weak since I know the HP ones are strong.

InArt figures are heavy, that's one problem. Not a problem, per se, as I like the weight, but a problem for magnets.

Harry works better because he's smaller/lighter.

I'm wondering if Gandalf would stick to Harry's base better than his own, or is it that Harry is just so much lighter factoring in.

My Aragorn seems to have a much better connection than Joker and Gandalf as well.

I haven't tried any of my bases. Closet fodder.

less magnets, more magnets, or even stronger... makes no difference if the figure has weak ankles.

I added six rare earth magnets inside my base and it works great. Too great, really, as it’s a little difficult to get him stand the way I want, but it does work. When I pick the figure up, the base comes with.

Congratulations! You have done a great job with his hair. I would be more than happy with it if mine had come looking like that.
