InArt: The Lord of the Rings - Legolas 1:6

I wouldn’t count on that. They only showed a prototype of Legolas just days before he went up for preorder. I have a feeling they knew people would complain about the cloak and the missing bow. He looks fantastic, but $550 bucks for a figure that comes with two knifes and a bow is ridiculous.

They were given a ton of reference to improve Superman’s suit, but they didn’t use any of it. I think the days of InArt endlessly optimizing their releases are over. This community will nitpick on the smallest things, so I honestly can’t blame them.

I’d love to know specific examples as to what constitutes as the “smallest things.”

Didn’t realise it wasn’t just a poncho, seems to be 2 rectangles of fabric attached to a collar. Hadn’t clocked that it was completely open in the back for his quiver.

Yeah, I do love that cloak - such a stately piece of clothing and best of all you can still display him with his main accessories.
Really emphasizes his princely status.

A lot of these points are minor details that the bigger audience won’t notice. Does it look better and is it more accurate? Yes absolutely, but most people are forgetting these are mass produced products, InArt has to draw the line somewhere. If you want this type of accuracy you’ll have to go the custom route unfortunately. Even then it’s sometimes hard to achieve.

Sometimes the simpler the outfit looks, the easier it is to make a hash of. When making something like The Batman outfit or Dune stillsuits, you REALLY have to nail all the details as they generally all fit together in a way that each part is essential.

A lot of Aragorn's outfit is easily to overlook unless you are looking for the details or you notice something on the off chance. Take for example the quiver; the straps are actually connected to the quiver by the same Gondorian buckles that Faramir has on his cloak neck ties. For me it's details like that which make the Aragorn costume really interesting as it hints to his lineage and travelling as he has already fought alongside the men of Gondor and Rohan prior to The War of The Ring.

I wish InArt had included that detail but I've already sacrificed the buckles off the cloak from my Asmus Faramir...

Now I want those buckles!

But like my Faramir as-is. Re Legolas did they not plan to do the brooch at the neck either? That would be a shame, as they did a nice job with the Evenstar and the elven leave brooches.

Plus for me it would tie back to Thranduil's twining "thorn" ring in the Hobbit and his neck brooch.

Agree it's the tiny things for me (besides a great sculpt) that could get a fence-sitter like me to change their mind and purchase.

Yeah, but tiny diecast pieces are hard. I'd looked a long time just trying to track down what the clasps on Thorin's cloak looked like, before tripping over some old pages of a design document that apparently was on display at one point. Dunno if I could even get my hands on LOTR design art books at this point, without paying through the nose.

But these 1/6 scale companies seem to have costume access. After all, isn't that what "premium" is?

(Of course, I think most of us understand certain things may not be achieved in 1/6).

I know, I never said these points weren’t achievable. I meant that InArt can’t keep optimizing trying to get every single detail right, that has never happened and probably never will on mass scale. It’s time consuming and would delay their releases.

Still I think InArt cares more about accuracy than Hot Toys ever will.

INART should’ve definitely gotten the things that Hot Toys got right with theirs all those years ago at least.

Do-able IMO but gonna have to have another talk with myself. Overpriced tho that's probably a given. But for me - for the cost, the sculpt is bothering me. To me it's off, like this is - someone else. Actually reminds me more of the Hobbit Legolas where I don't think disguising Orlando's age was that effective.

Being a Hobbit fan that actually should make me want the fig, but there's no Mirkwood armor. Anyway to me it looks too old, too sharp cheekboned. Forehead too bulbous. ~100$ is a lot to throw away on an NRD.

This sculpt just isn't screaming Legolas to me. Like I know who it is, but something or somethings are off. It's like I'd get him more to put with Thranduil as another elf, not so much Legolas.

I feel like the shape of his head is completely inaccurate and throws off the likeness to a degree that is extremely noticeable.

I was not impressed with their Aragorn sculpt either.

Kit is still cheaper for me at $16 more shipped. BBTS charges tax, so for me its another $50 at least.

Yep. I live about 35 miles from BBTS, and the tax would be brutal.

I already have my order through Kit. Saves on taxes I agree. I just found it odd that BBTS is able to place an order with InArt with them being in the States. So that's why my question.

That's true, forgot about shipping and taxes. Legolas would just under $40 more through BBTS. However, I could save 20 cents and get Nazgul w/ horse months slower if I get with BBTS.

Times are rough and that 20 cents could buy me an extra few seconds of energy to browse this forum.

BBTS isn't getting these distributed to them from InArt. They legally can't.

They're pre-ordering their own from multiple different places and reselling them. I can't imagine they're gonna make much of a profit, if any on these but it certainly helps direct traffic to their website.

They do the same with SHF, Mafex and other imports that can't be sold here in the states but they usually add the resellers tax to those.

InArt is just another import figure they're selling. Nothing has changed. They did add the reseller tax to InArt Supes tho.

I understand all that. But the prices are curious. These are about the same price as ordering from Kit. Doesn't appear to be any profit for BBTS if they are ordering from resellers. Their Superman/Ron and Hermione were jacked up to profit. These are relatively competitive in pricing.
