Okay, this announcement gives me plenty of enough time to start donating blood twice a day and selling my organs.

Brb, going to the black market :lol

:thud:

I don't see it that way. HT and EB are rivals now. Brings the best to the table. Imagine if EB was also making Indy. . . .

i totally agree with the competition side of things - similar products from both will only make both of them rethink quality and price. i just mean that i used to have this image in my mind of HT being awesome. the personality they projected as a brand was kinda cool, innovative and as lame as it sounds amiable. now i just think they're dicks :dunno like i said to josh... i'll still buy the products, coz i dig how awesome they are. but it's not a company i like.

trying to think what i can compare it to. metallica. i used to think they were awesome, i revered the guys in the band. over the years, i've come to think they're all penile warts, but i still dig the music they made (and to a lesser extent, make).

Lars Ulrich = total ******, agreed
I still love James

Kirk who?

Please lord imbue me with the strength of total indifference at any HT 1/4 scale reveal.

:exactly: :(

Honestly, this 1/4 scale thing might force me to get out of collecting. I've been wanting someone to do 1/4 scale posable figures for ages, but the idea of HT doing it is terrifying. Imagining the price makes me nauseous. :sick

You are getting the Enterbay T2 though right?

Well yeah..but at that pricepoint I kinda hoped he'd be an exception in my collecting - now with HT getting in on 1/4 poseable figures too.....they're gonna make everything all over again. I think I'll find it in myself to avoid buying the superheroes in 1/4 but if they start doing Terminator and Predator.....faaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!

i don't know if this announcement will really effect EB. hot toys are announcing they are going to do 1/4 figures for dark knight rises but EB are doing BB suit and joker, both of which are highly unlikely to be in rises. only if EB decides to do the DK suit will it be direct competition.

i can't really see HT doing anything in 1/4 beyond just batman, i'm not sure 1/4 catwoman or bane would sell well.

I'm surprised I don't see this more around here.

You guys are clearly slaves to Howard Chan. Hahahaha

:exactly: Yeah me too. Im not for 1/4 scale anyway. Even if I was I couldnt afford it. Its bad enough with the 1/6 releases. But i know when they come out everyone that said they wont get one will be drooling. In all honesty can you imagine what a 1/4 TDK suit is gonna look like. I think its going to be awesome....the money not so awesome. Then everyone is going to be selling their DXo2 and/or OC Bats just to afford one. We'll all be selling all our figs just to afford the bigger and better versions of the ones coming out. Sometimes I miss the old days of collecting

This announcement doesn't surprise me at all. I expected TDKR line and I expected Hot Toys to compete with Enterbay.

I don't agree with the latter though. They could have left the 1/4 scale to Enterbay and focused their efforts on their 1/6 scale. It's quite obvious the only reason Hot Toys is doing this is because of the Enterbay 1/4 Terminator and their new TDK line. I like Hot Toys but they can go ____ themselves. It's not like they'd lose any customers if they just let Enterbay do their thing. We're talking about two completely different scales here. Hot Toys didn't need to venture in with 1/4 crap and I'm positive they don't have the time and energy for it (look at all the stuff they're releasing).

In the coming months I expect to buy a few more Batman figures/vehicles from both companies, from both licenses (Burton and Nolan). This will no doubt price me out of the hobby and I'll have to quit eventually.

This will be the end of the $200 or less figure and we'll start seeing higher and higher prices. Things will hit a plateau and then the bubble will burst with unhappy employees and collectors. By that point though, I think everyone in the end will have had a good run and a nice collection/profit to boot.
