Well considering some of the less than stellar 1/6th releases and the crazy delays, not to mention the questionable QC, I think HT should fix their own 1/6th business before jumping in to try and steal EBs 1/4 thunder.

Because Enterbay didn't have their own QC issues before trying to compete with HT over Nolan's Batman? :dunno

HT already made 1/4 scale from TDK, it was just a bust statue and I expect the same here

I hear what 8th Samurai is saying, but HT is a business and is now inittowinit. Very few companies can grow as HT has, rely on niche/cult licenses, and maintain the quality of life that their execs have become accustomed to.

Though I would also love figures from, say, the Thing, Dawn of the Dead, Last Starfighter, etc., I'm also very happy to get the DC and Marvel movie-fare that we are getting, so I won't complain too much.

Having said that, I suspect there is a real gap in the market now that some company could fill if it chose to to take on licenses of that type for high end, 1/6th scale collectors. . .Blitzway, perhaps?

While that's true, those were 1/4 busts and were advertised as such. In this announcement Hot Toys specifically states 1/4 collectible figures.

Hell, what about Enterbay? Figures like Leon make perfect sense to me. Instead of competing with HT over who can do the better Bruce Lee or 1/4 scale Terminator, maybe they can just focus on a restricted fan-base that HT isn't catering to. And if HT decides, "____ it, we're gonna go after niche licenses just to run EB further into the ground!" then great for all of us! :lol

I hope that's the case but they said on their annoucement that they're gonna be placing their rich ***..I mean, stepping their foot into the specially developed 1/4th scale collectible figures! :wave

Well Nam I don't think EB went into direct competition with HT?
If they had, they would have announced 1/6th Batman releases.

As for QC problems, EB have had some notorious problems of late. And I hope HT are not taking on too much too fast. Because stuff is slipping, too many announcements without time to grow properly as a company.

I would love top end HT 1/4 stuff, but not at the cost of everything else?:dunno

This whole announcement from EB is them playing "nya-nya" with HotToys. As Kara pointed out, there are several other licenses they could be doing other than Terminator and Batman. Instead, they're kind of digging their own grave here. They should be focusing more on trying to get out a Lee that actually looks like the prototype. A concept HT's near perfected. :huh

The sky isn't falling, guys. Let's take a breather and look at this objectively. 1/6 is Hot Toy's bread and butter. I doubt their 1/4 figure line will ever be as expansive as their 1/6. Figure Collectors will probably adopt the mentality Statue Collectors have when Sideshow rolled out their 1/2 Legendary Scale premium formats: it's a special platform most of us will only want our absolute favs in. I think you guys are going to be fine, happy, continuing 1/6 collectors at the end of the day.

HT is in the business of making money, as is any business. If your competition is eating up a percentage of your pie, you can't grow. I honestly think if EB were producing a better product, there wouldn't be so much whining. Sounds like they're scoring the sympathy vote. Stop and think for a second. If HT's now in the 1/4 game, EB will be forced to up their quality. :lol

You make a good point. I think there is a bit of sympathy tinted arguments for Enterbay here. Not really because of the quality of the product, more the fact Enterbay really shook up the collecting scene with the 1:4 T-800, they're just getting started with that, 1:4 batman teasers etc, everyone is talking and hot toys have come announcing this. HT have gone the completely wrong way about it, imo. It just reeks of desperation, sort of bullying and a "we're gonna crush you" attitude.

As a customer i'm not going to buy a product that isn't as good as a different manufacturers' version just because of loyalty but, still, Hot toys have gone down in my estimations really.

At the end of the day, that's what HT relies on and why I don't think any of this is gonna hurt HT in terms of the perception of their being a "bully."

Hope you're right.

It is a bit silly really, it's just a company, as long as the product is great and makes you happy who cares? But I think it just stems from us wanting Enterbay to do well.

All this talk of the 1:4 annoucement is overshadowing what is great news in the fact they are doing a Dark Knight Rises 1:6 line. That I have no problem with!
