Well, so i'm informed, even before pics were released of PF Frodo, it was already better than the Weta one!

I still think it's signficantly better than the Weta Frodo, even with these lousy pics.

Let's wait for some real pics before passing judgment. I basically echo what Dave said.

It looks good, not great, but good. I can only see the Pippin statue however when I see this pose.

My comments are certainly informed by the fact that we will need more pics. :peace

I agree we need more pictures, but, from what I see so far, I am not impressed at all.

Well I dont know about anyone else but the Frodo in the prieview pics and the one in that scaned pic dont even look like the same figure. The preview pics have him looking pretty much straight ahead as opposed to upwards. Maybe the one in the magazine was a very ealry prototype and they since refined it to look more foward. Which is better IMHO.

I was thinking the same thing Jesse. The little bit of the face we could see in the preview was amazing.

It even looks better in RoboDad's photoshopped pic with Lurtz. However, the hair on the feet definitely needs a lot of work if that's indeed how it's going to look.

Am I the only one? I love this statue.
I'm sure official pictures will look even better.
My first reaction was...
"WOW, that looks great ! I'm so getting it !!!!" :D

but I do agree that the paintjob on his feet hair can be improved.

I love it! but something just acurred to me, isnt he way to big? He's over half the size of Lurtz and is crouching too. Should he be about that size standing up? But besides what I just noticed, Frodo is freeking brilliant. I want it.

I'm with ya :)

BDboystoys and Sir Tristram, Let's not jump to the conclusion.
That comparason pic is combined by RoboDad and
is not an official comparason pic by sideshow.

Very true, but dont get me wrong, If I had the $$ for Frodo he'd be MINE without thought.

Oh, OK...But there is no reason to think it will be to scale....None of the toys or even Sideshow's previous Polystone statue were correct Hobbit scale.
So...there is no reason to think this one will be....
don't get me wrong either...I amstill going to be one of the first to buy this when it goes on sale, but I was just commenting that I doubt it willbe to scale.

Robo, I believe Frodo ought to be a bit smaller in the comparison pic, just so that the bases match in height.

I'm not feeling almost any love for the sculpt as seen at the moment, but we all know it might be an early prototype. (I somehow doubt it, but, you know.) It's not from a Frodo-centric part of the movies (why not do a TTT or ROTK Frodo?), and it seems to be trying to capture the stealth and wariness of the hobbits, but ends up doing too much for its own good. I would've thought a number of other poses and movie moments say "Frodo" much more loudly than this one. (Him standing at the mercy of the Ringwraith in Osgiliath, for one...)

But it's also very good for my wallet that I happen to like Sideshow's 12" efforts more than their PFs, on purely aesthetic grounds. :naughty

I hope new pics come up with Frodo looking much better than this. I realise how much a definitive statue of the Ringbearer would mean to a lot of people, and I do hope Sideshow delivers it.

I expected him to be smaller too, but I didn't just guess at my size comparison pic. If you look at the right side of the Frodo pic that was originally scanned, it contains almost the entire blade of Lurtz's sword, as also seen in the Lurtz pic that I used for comparison (same position and angle). What I did was change the size and position of the Lurtz pic until his sword exactly overlaid the sword blade in the Frodo pic. I can't explain why the size came out the way it did, but it did.

My comparison pic may be proven wrong (and I kind of hope it is), but based on what I saw in the pics I started with, I don't see how it could be.

How come the preview from sideshow has Frodo looking forward and the picture seaward scanned has him looking up?

From chat log:

Brant, was the Lee's magazine image a very old picture!?!?

Lee's magazine pic is old, but not dramatically different.
