Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

They showed his episodes when I was a kid watching Who on PBS. They ran 4th Doctor in a loop for a while, then started at 1 and ran all the way through 7.

Yup, watched all 7 classic series Doctors on PBS in the U.S.

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

You know, in the US they never even aired his episodes. I watched 3,4,5 and then saw the regeneration sequence and was DYING for years to see what happened next, but for a good 20 years there was simply no way for me to ever see a Colin Baker episode.

In Utah Colin's stories were aired a year after the debuted in the UK. All the way until 1990 when I watched season 26.

Really? Maybe it was regional. I was in New Jersey and on PBS they ran 3-5 and then went back to 3.

In my opinion, I always felt that the first three Doctors had the best chemistry together - most likely because of the 3 Doctors and 5 Doctors special.

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

I have been lucky enough to have met Colin a couple of times and he is quite the most pleasant man you could ever meet. Cheerful, chatty, eager, friendly, welcoming and humorous.

Though I had all but stopped regularly watching original WHO at around this point, Colin made the best of what he was given to do and deserves a figure. His name and face are a legitimate piece of WHO history that should not be swept under a rug just because some people rank him as 'not the best Doctor'

I am certain that BCS - with their commitment to the line being obvious - will indeed give us a great Colin/Doctor that will catch anyone's eye in a collection. In fact I'd put money on the fact that when he does get made, bought and displayed that his figure, with such a bright and colourful - not to say recognisable - costume, his figure is more likely to make a visitor ask "Oooh, who is that? I did not know you get even get him" Or some such statement.

I agree. I bet he would make a striking figure.

So much hate for poor Colin. He was always one of my favorites. He's the underdog like Timothy Dalton was to Bond. Nobody gave him a chance and unfairly blamed him for all of the failures of the franchise.

Really? I always got the impression that poor old Sylvester was the most hated classic Doc.

I really think it's a close thing. Plus Michael Grade wanted it dead and gone and made sure that it happened, so Mr McCoy was probably treated worst of all.

He's actually also another great guest and all round dedicated fellow at conventions - he attended the London Film & Comic Convention earlier this month after very recently breaking his leg, but still attended on a little buggy.

Yeah I agree, that really didn't help much at all.

I love old Sylvester. I've worked with him and found him a great bloke. Always remembers me when I see him too which is cute.

As a kid I was so obsessed with Sylvester I ruined a yellow sweater vest drawing "?"s all over it. :lol

Even with the high cost for shipping, the US customers still pays less than UK one for the figure because of VAT.

US
£158.88+£27.50=£186.38

UK
£189.99+£12.50=£202.49

Noooooo!

I hated that bloody tanktop! It's right up there with Tom's question mark shirt lapels. :slap

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

Um... I think the heat must have got to me when I posted last night.

But I still doubt that Colin will sell that well, although I could be wrong.

There. That's better.

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

Much more balanced Cappy.:lol

I'll be feeling a lot more zen when the heat's down to a comfortable level for me. I hate sunlight at the best of times, and much more of this and I'm likely to eat someone's liver. Um, or something.
