Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

Yeah, it failed 'cause it was sexist crap.

No, it failed because it didn't get across what was intended, which was to comment in pantomime-esque fashion that sueworld was needlessly panicking about the portrait. Might've been lame, but it wasn't sexist as I don't know sueworld from a bar of soap. So get off your soap box.

As per in this forum I'm afraid.

Not guilty your honour. Or honour-ess, as the case may be. Sorry it was received that way.

I wasn't 'panicking' I was passing comment. I'd been a guest at the 50th anniversary event at the weekend and so went to have a look at the BC stand and saw it there.

The lighting wasn't all that great and so I'm hoping my observations are wrong. Okay??

Not a fan, but thanks for the suggestion.

Over on Gallifrey base, Cyber has posted a video review of the figure:

https://batmanmarchreviews.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/doctor-who-action-figure-review-4th.html

The tailoring and accessories look excellent, as does the paint job (though still with excessive grey on the stubble part of his face). Still difficult to say how well it's turned out because the lighting and picture quality aren't particularly good. However, Cyber does make the point that the face looks different to the prototype.

I really want to see better pictures before I decide what I think; however, I will always prefer a smiling portrait so I'm not the best person to judge. One thing I will say is that it looks very striking - it's a bold choice.

Personally, I'm blown away by that review. The costume looks amazingly detailed. The one nit might be the colors on the scarf don't look 100% right to me. I do see the wrinkles and details on the face.

I had also forgotten about all of the amazing accessories! Eldrad lives!!!!

Yeah. me too. I'm still undecided about how good a likeness it is, but actually, this is one figure where it doesn't matter that much because it's so damn striking - a really unusual looking figure that perfectly catches Tom's bug-eyed personality. I can't afford this at all but I am really thinking hard about saving up through January to try and get it.

I loved the accessories and the tailoring. The idea that one day BC might produce a Troughton figure like this - with a penlight sonic, recorder, 500 year diary, cloak, removable hair and tall hat... really wish they'd do Troughton and Hartnell together and save on the black material they'd need!

I did nt ask for him but was nonetheless delighted to receive him for Christmas 1977.Then pestered my Mum for his OSI headquarters. What an ungrateful little **** I must have appeared!

Have you got children? Children are ungrateful little ****ers. You bleed yourself dry to get them what they want and then the grasping little fartbags ask for more.

I thought the review was great, and I'm LOVING the figure! :) Everything seemed to turn out great, and I thought the way they did the backdrop was really good.

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

I had a dream last night that the backdrop came in two pieces and you had to remove it from the box with scissors. I was really disappointed. :lol

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

Great video, and I see facial detail...I might have to get him. Damn the 50th anniversary episode to hell.

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

Looks damn nice in the video. A real step forward from the 11th Doc. I can't wait to get mine.

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

When are those invoices coming? I'm living in this section at the moment, waiting to hear if they've been sent out.

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

Looks good.

Interesting to hear that the reviewer also thought that something had been lost in the manufacturing process and that the face looked slightly squeezed. So it's not just me then. :lol

The accessories look wonderful and love the little touches with the hat.

Whatever issues I may have with the coat color, there's no denying that this is a damn pretty figure. The detail and tailoring are off the charts.
