Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

No I just expect that when a figure costs nearly £200 that it actually look like the flaming prototype.

I didn't realise you'd seen it in hand love. :)

But we'll soon see. They told me they're sending them out starting the 2nd of December.

Also 'close enough' isn't good enough imo. For that kind of money it should be exact.

PT, you say it looks good from that pic but when we say it doesn't you jump on us. Why is your opinion important and ours isn't?

I'll put it in sue-speak: This is a discussion forum love. I am hear to discuss. :)

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

I just hope he looks more like the Doctor circa 1974 than the old guy at the end of the Day of the Doctor. That custodian looked nothing like him...

I was at the theater last night and went to the 10pm show. All the nerdy hot girls had no idea who the custodian was. I told them he was the evil Prince from the Golden Voyage of Sinbad who kept aging. Still nothing. Then I told them he was the painter from Tales from the Crypt the movie. Some of them remembered that, but that guy had a goatee...

In all seriousness I have high hopes for this figure. My buddy has the Matt Smith one and as nice as it is all I could think was I hope they do as nice a job with Tom Baker; he's my Doctor.

I haven't love. My opinion is based on the same crappy pics and if it looks as good as that I will be more than pleased with how this figure turned out. :wink1:

Well personally I think it looks just like the prototype. I would know I painted the prototype. Not sure what your looking at I've got the prototype right next to me with the production piece it's spot on. No detail has been lost what so ever may I remind you about the image big chief studios posted on Facebook the close up of Tom head. Although the lighting is dark you can clearly see all the detail is still there and that was a production piece taken randomly from the production run. Again I would know this because I was there. I personally think people should wait and see it themselves not take one person opinion and some badly shot photos and make their own mind up. These sort of comments happen a lot on here and people jump on the bandwagon. it's your opinion and your entitled to it. But board sweeping statements saying this looks nothing like the prototype are plain ridiculous.

At the end of the day, quality will out. If everything you say is true then people will be happy. I'm reserving judgement until we see better in hand pictures. But like you say, Sue (and everyone) are entitled to their opinion.

And Dave, why was my post replying to lejeun removed?

I admit that the lighting wasn't good in that booth, but I studied it for some time and it did look different to me. The dark lips looked way to dark and as others have said the face looked thinner, thus making it look a little less like Tom.

As I also said us punters will know soon enough as they told me that they're being shipped out soon. So I hope you're right and I'm wrong. I'll be deeply pissed If off If not as I can ill afford to spend such a (to me) huge amount of money on a 'dolly' that doesn't look like the publicity photos. :lol

Also my comments aren't about what you did on the prototype but what appears to have happened to said head during the manufacturing process, because lets face it, It's not like this kind of thing hasn't happened before with BC is it?

On the up side the Tennant figure looked superb.
