Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

Nice re-paint!

So, like others on here I've got a faulty stand. After much cursing with a teeny screwdriver, I've got the battery cover off. Batteries look nice and new, no leakage, but there's no light at all.

What have other people done?

Have new batteries solved it or is there a wiring issue with these stands?

I can't see any way of opening the stand without damaging it, so don't want to pry it apart.

Might have to shoot an email off to Big Chief and see if replacement stands are available.

I feel sorry for these guys, you think there could be one release with no issues! Over all I'm very happy with my 4th :D probably wouldn't have the stand on much anyhow, but at this price point things need to work.

Oh, while I'm talking about issues. Does everyone's key to time cube have air bubbles in them? Mine does :-/

That is a really excellent repaint BJ. It really does make a huge difference.

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

He looks SO much better without the 5'oclock shadow! I hope if there are future heads for him (and other Doctors) BCS take note. Mine isn't that heavy so I don't mind it, but it's just not needed.

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

yeah.. no more 5'oclocks pls big chief! plssssssss !

FANTASTIC repaint babyjelly, wow! so much better.

seen reports that new batteries solve the prob, dunno how to get in tho. also yes others have airbubbles in the key.

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

I don't think anyone got a key to Time free from air bubbles. Which is a shame, as it kind of spoils it, in my opinion.

As for the bases, so far everyone that has had a 'dead' base, and that purchased both, has reported that switching the batteries from a working base into the dead one fixes the issue completely (including mine), so I think we (and Big Chief) have just been dudded on the batteries to be honest. I mean from what I've read here and elsewhere, there seems to be a pretty massive failure rate on the supplied batteries in the bases. So my guess is you just got a bad battery set, like me and so many others have.

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

Thanks for the replies guys, guess I'll be off to the shops to pick up some batteries today!

Shame about the key :(

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

A few flat batteries isn't the end of the world. It happens.

The majority of toy/electronics manufacturers don't include batteries for this very reason.

But then if they weren't included you'd be all upset about that instead. :dunno

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

Possibly the stands were in the on position all along and it drained the batteries???

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

Probably just cheap batteries. Most of the button cells drain without being used anyway.

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

China is full of a ton of crap button cell batteries that last next to no time. Probably the factory sourced some bad ones.

This is the reason I change out my batteries with name brand ones.

This is my guess.

Next time they should just make the stand take AAAs and then they don't even need to include them.
