Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

Yep, changing the batteries did the trick on mine. I ordered a bunch on Amazon for about $5.

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

BC probably made a basic mistake. They should carry a disclaimer that the batteries supplied should be replaced immediately . CO do something like this. Their DALEKS come with batteries, and a recommendation to change them.
These duds were probably just that, and used to test the device. However, that could have been months ago.

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

I wasn't happy with the 5 o'clock shadow on mine - it was quite heavy, but my figure was 014, so a very early one possibly???? So I tried to scrape it off, using various methods, but in the end repainted it.

Wonder if you could remove the 5 O'clock shadow with a little bit of rubbing alcohol.

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

Yes, that looks much much better. Lord knows why they overdid it in the first place.

May I ask what paint you used and did you seal it afterwards?

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

I loved the fourth doc so much that when I saw my comic shop happened to have the no-longer-available Matt Smith Big Chief figure ... well, I couldn't afford it, but I couldn't resist. It's great as well! Eyes are a bit red so he looks a little stoned, but that's fine. Maybe he's been a bit sad. Fourth Doc shows a measure of improvement in some small areas (shirt snaps, face colouring a touch more life-like), but eleventh doc is still great, and stands easily next to my hot toys '89 Batman and Joker. Big Chief really hit the ground running, huh?

Oh dear, I've just realised I'm going to have to buy every future Doc they release ...

I'll be first in line for the autographed Colin Baker!

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

The 6th Doctor will be quite a challenge for BC! That outfit will be damn hard to make well. Still I believe they can do it, I'm impressed with 4 and 10!

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

But will they make it? I mean poor old Colin's not exactly the most popular Doctor is he?

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

I hope they do. I liked Colins Doc a lot. And it would be an amazing stand out figure.

I'd hope we'd see 8 before 6 & 7 - just from a costume perspective - theirs were the dumbest and it was a low point for the show (at least it seems so from the single episode I've seen of each).

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

Colin Baker's Doctor is the most unjustly demonised, and all around under-appreciated of them all, in my not so humble opinion. So I can't wait until Big Chief make a Sixth Doctor figure personally.

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

I don't think they should wait until the end to do 6 & 7 though. They need to pepper them in. And I think they should do all the Doctors. Maybe they just get smaller production runs.

They still have their fans, and plenty of people will want all the Doctors at some point. 7 actually has some really great stories. Six was far less well-served. I really became a fan of those Doctors through the audios, though.

I agree 100% Revenge of the Cybermen is in my top five classic Who stories.

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

I think Six was the Timothy Dalton of Doctor Who. Undervalued in his time, and largely screwed over through no fault of his own, but far better than he is often given credit for being. I loved Colin's blustery persona.

Add me to the list of those that would gladly take a Sixth Doctor off Big Chief's hands. Of course I'll be buying them all, but even so, Six is very high on my most wanted list.

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

Colin's time as a doc was somewhat crippled by poor writing. I actually liked his portrayal quite a bit despite meh stories here and there. I'd pick him up in a second.

(Oh, and I'd take Peri anytime:drool)

That damn awful costume was the worst thing to ever hit this show, let alone poor old Colin's rein as the Doc. Jesus christ Nathan what were you thinking? It must have been like trying to act behind a neon sign. :slap

I loved Colin as the Doctor, but his run was entirely crippled by poor writing. Unlike every other Doctor, there isn't a single story during Colin's run that you can point to and say "this is the one you absolutely have to see." Davison is by far my least favorite Doctor, I think he's dull as dishwater, but even he has Caves of Androzani, and McCoy has Remembrance, a story that lets the master manipulator truly shine.

Re: Big Chief Studios - 1/6 Doctor Who - #04 Tom Baker

I liked Six's costume. It added to the personality he created through his run. He shouldn't be next but I wouldn't mind if he came after 9.
