Thats whats pissing me off more than anything, I have 30 SS with near perfect paint apps. All were cheaper in price too.
I hate to say this, but perhaps SSC wasn't quite ready for the full scope of demand and scrutiny that the SW line brings to the table. Can they not crank out a few thousand more of these than their other lines yet maintain the same level of quality?

I hope I am wrong, but you guys are making a great point.

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

That mustache is killing me. I'd rather have the flat brown throughout than what WG's showing us. Again, mine hasn't shipped so I can't really criticize til I have it in hand but I'm very worried about this.

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

I'm betting that top-notch paint jobs by Custom Mikey and Les Walker will really make this sculpt look the way it should. I'm sure their work can make this figure look just like the one on display at SDCC.

Hurry up and give that Jedi his saber before he grabs something else! :lol

Anyway, he looks good, but he'd look great with the right paintjob. He's not as bad as the notorious production photos, but nowhere near as good as the SDCC Obi-Wan. Still an awesome looking sculpt!

....OK, here's the last round of pictures. The sun is really screwing today -- bright one minute, then dark the next when clouds pass -- so I apologize for the uneven lighting.

Last note here: the warm sun is adding some 'red' to the pictures -- Obi's not quite that reddened in person.

I think that's all I can get to today. Unless the light evens out. Anyway, I leave it to you all to judge.

Great job, Wor-Gar. These two pics look the best to me...really highlight how good this figure is looking. (Not to mention that fine sunlight!)
Thanks for getting these shots up for the rest of us to enjoy while we wait...

Now, take your lady out to a nice dinner and "futz" over her for awhile...Obi-Wan can wait. Have a good weekend....

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

I wish I had not seen the Obi-Wan at SDCC. This is my most wanted figure and the memory of him at SD will always frustrate me. The sculpt still looks fantastic, so I must go practice my dry brushing on Han. I want his hair a tad lighter with some subtle highlights.

I got my Mace today and he is nearly perfect. :chew I like how some have darkened his eyes but I think I will leave mine alone.

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

Great work WG, thanks for working so feverishly to help us all out!! :D  :chew

I'm really liking what I see with the only exception of the mustache.

I don't think so. I think SS is more than ready. Some people are too demanding honestly and expect things that just plain and simple won't happen or can't. These figures overall are really good and have few problems. They by no means not worth getting and are not of bad quality. People really need to quit taking these so seriously.

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

It's not too much of a problem.... And as I said on the chat.... anyone who wants hair or lip paintjobs done on any figures.... I'll seriously do it for shipping and a small tip ($1-5).

so remember this.... NEARLY FREE HAIR REPAINTS!!!! Just toss me a buck or two and I'm happy. :D

You should make that offer to Sideshow. At those prices, that's probably less than they're paying those poor factory workers over in China. :p

You're joking, but I bet at even his low low fees DA would be making about 100-200 times more per head than the workers in the Chinese sweatshop... err, factory. ;)

That's true.... they pay those people in droplets.... droplets of sweat. Just enough to still be hydrated enough not to DIE.

Can't wait King.... I hope I get mine soon as well... I really want something to paint.

I think it's a matter of balance. Other than the inclusives, these figures have set edition numbers, so perhaps a solution would be to uses statistics to plan edition sizes, put the items into production, and then put them up for sale with production images, same as now, priority preorder and all, but that way, people would see just what they're getting and we won't have wait periods. However, in defense of the current method, how many people order cuz the protos look great, they see the production shots and get bummed, and then get their item and are happier, not as happy as they hoped, but happier than expected. If these people decided order or not order by production shots, they'd be bummed cuz they wouldn't have ordered, they'd find out it was pretty good in hand and they'd wish they had one. The key for now is, we know we can't expect the quality of the proto so when you consider ordering, think to yourself, if it's not as good as this, would I still want it.
