Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

not as bad as the pics on their site but since i've seen the promised land(obi at SDCC) I think i'll send him off to get painted, just because i love obi in the prequels and want him to be the best he can be.

Rock on man! And remember... that deal is available for Anakin, Han or Obi.... I'll repaint hair on any of them... :D

DA Youre the man! I cant wait to see some pics of yours

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

Thanks Nash.... You can bet I'll post them EVERYWHERE.... I will be using that famous SDCC pic as a reference....

If only I could strip that paint off completely and have those wrinkles and fine grooves like the proto did.... but alas, I think I can come kinda close at least.

can't wait Paul! It's gonna rule!

We're on, Hair repaints for Han and Obi!

Try to "take a little off" the Obi brows too if you can, bro. :D

Re: 12" Obi-Wan IMAGE Thread

Thanks again Wor Gar for posting pics... and screw you for being the first to get him :lol

He looks great, sure there's a bit of extra/odd grey... but in the far-away shots it seems fine, much more bothersome up close. Can't wait to get him!!!

I hate to say this, but perhaps SSC wasn't quite ready for the full scope of demand and scrutiny that the SW line brings to the table. Can they not crank out a few thousand more of these than their other lines yet maintain the same level of quality?

Before they went online only, weren't the production runs MUCH higher? Like tens of thousands?

Is the quality even that much decreased? Or at all? Or do people just post pictures of the face sculpts at such closeup angles that to replicate the amount of detail with the human eye you'd have to hold it an inch away from the eyeball? I don't look at my figures that close-up, the closest I look at them is from a foot away, and they by and large look terrific to me. Not *perfect* but certainly better than any other factory produced 12" figures.

I don't think the Star Wars figures are any worse than most other Sideshow figures, probably a little better even. They are noticably worse than the prototypes, just like every other line, by any company, in the history of manufacturing.

I mean, seriously, we're talking about some strokes of grey paint that appear unappealing at the 1"-from-object level. This isn't bad quality control, it's just not a finely crafted paintjob by someone with hours to spend painting a single figure.

My figures are missing hair in the bikini regions. Will you repaint those too?

Quite frankly, anyone complaining about this figure after seeing this shot is smoking crack and needs to severely re-think what they expect from an action figure.

To me, this shot alone should quieten any concerns.

Also, people picking over the grey in the beard/mustache need to watch the movie again, it's there, it's there big time.

It's not too much of a problem.... And as I said on the chat.... anyone who wants hair or lip paintjobs done on any figures.... I'll seriously do it for shipping and a small tip ($1-5).

so remember this.... NEARLY FREE HAIR REPAINTS!!!! Just toss me a buck or two and I'm happy. :D

That sounds great, but can you paint?

(I mean no disrespect. I've never seen your work.)
