i want this death figure instead of fat colorless alien :(

I just don't get why this thing is $250. It's just a figure with a reused base from about 10 years ago. I could see if it came with an egg or a face hugger or two, maybe an alternate exploded gun fire head, but it's got nothing. It's not like this thing is a marvel in engineering either. Kinda insulting.

on body ji-zz shots(2) =100 bucks. fair enough.

If you wanted to buy one for just say a corner statue like idea and not really move or pose it, would you recommend it still ?

Hard to say. I got the feeling that the NECA 1/4 Predator figure could potentially break under it's own weight if it fell over on a shelf. Not fell off the shelf, mind you - just fell over. That, and the hip joints were so loose, it couldn't even stand properly without a hefty amount of help. Truth be told, I donated it to Goodwill because I didn't think it'd be worth tying to sell with the cost of shipping. :dunno

Now, I'm not saying that Hot Toys is going to be made of some high-end materials either, just that NECA seems to always be pretty bad with quality in my experience. Sometimes, you do get what you pay for.*

* Having said that, this Hot Toys Alien does use rubber and will have many of the problems the others before it have had. It's the nature of the material. I wouldn't buy this if you plans on re-posing it all the time.

Just a quick question this is going to be my first hot toys figure in a long while -what's the best and quickest way to buy this figure? eBay from Japan/Hongkong? Or is it better to pre order with sideshow? I hate getting the additional tax charges when it gets delivered which are normally £50. Also if there's a cheaper way?

Moving to Denmark in June I will have to preorder this in Europe and I'm shocked to see how much these things are in there. I'm tempted to order from HK but I just calculated customs and they would be about $100 if charged for the actual price of the figure. Ordering in Germany the thing is about $325....

Direct from Hong Kong from a seller, either through FB groups or on eBay will be the fastest way, once it's released in HK. You'll get it a couple of months after it's released in HK if you order through SS or any other distibutor. It will be $50-75 more expensive than just waiting though.

I've built and painted Alien Warrior suits from the stunt moulds. The colour scheme on the HT figure is not accurate at all. The colours used on the suits were several shades of brown with light brown for the highlights. I used these colours for my warriors.

I hate the idea of this thing having rubber, i hate the whole combination of HT+Rubber in general. I can't say no to this though as i have been waiting yrs for them to revisit the line. Just have to hope they don't go ED209 rubber on this guy.

To be fair, the rubber if you not sucker of dynamic pose or go extremely it won't have bigger issue, above photos are my all bought since the first day released.
But their joint especially the feet one suck though, been years after they better fixed this issue already.

Is that Braehead Arena in the last pic? I was in the Cosplay competition, in my Jin-Roh armour, and noticed 2 Aliens sitting in the audience. 2006 i think.

I had my bust repainted to be more accurate, but it does lack the more black tones unfortunately.

It's pretty clear that HT is going for how the aliens appear in the movie not how the costumes look in regular light. There is really no doubt that HT are aware of how the costumes look and have chosen to go for the feel instead. Fair enough. And when you read interviews with the people who build the suits it was all about covering up and exaggerating so that the Warriors would blend in and still stand out on film. Intended appearance and not men in costumes.

"how it looked on screen" vs. "how it looked in real life"! The never ending battle.

I think this film more than any in cinematic history invites this argument. Damn you Cameron and your creative use of lighting and 'blue filters'!

*(fwiw, I'm a brown warrior and Brown-Bess weapons & gear guy! Screw those blue *******s and olive drab weapons! It still won't stop me from enjoying this warrior though)

The alien IS brown. I have seen movie stunt suits. Trust me, there brown!!

I think the point is, it should be the color it looks on screen, and to me, after watching the Alien films hundreds of times over the years, they've always appeared blueish-black in the actual movie. That's what Hot Toys was obviously going for here, with that said, I think they'll probably do a brown version at some point like they've done in the past.
