Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)
I'm right there, too! Would love both of the Ripleys they've shown. Day one pre-orders for me. If that day ever arrives.
I'm wondering if RoboCop sales had anything to do with the hold-up on this? For me, that whole line of Robo figures is fantastic ... the battle-damaged set is easily Figure of the Year for me ... but word is, they haven't sold well at all. They're all mostly still available for retail (and below) prices. So I wonder if that could have had a bit of a chilling effect on their plans for "legacy" characters. Especially with Marvel, DC and Star Wars all blasting away on all cylinders right now.
Just a thought. We obviously have no inside info on their sales figures. But still ...
You really think they'll use up valuable marketing real estate (meaning for the holidays) by previewing this figure to the 50-75 people that want it rather than presell another Star Wars trooper or Iron Man to thousands...?
If this comes at all, my guess is it will be during a lull, like March/April, after the holidays and before the summer film hype.
That said, I wish they'd preview it tomorrow because I'm one of the 50 who will buy it sight-unseen.
