Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Thanks all! Really appreciate the feedback! If anyone's selling a Kane or Dallas in any condition. I'm gonna use it for a custom.

Oh Man! It's agony!
Just 10 days to go :impatient:
Will we at last see a final production image of our Ripley??

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Yeah! I'm coming here daily for thecsame reason...but the warrior from the very first day....

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

I hope we get Ripley with the power loader as well.

I hope we get reveals on both the Alien and Aliens versions of Ripley plus the Power Loader if possible.

It would be interesting to know if the Loader will either be available with the Ripley doll only or we can purchase both separately of we want or need to.

It would be cool if they somehow throw a fireball into the proceedings with a figure we won't be expecting like say, a Bishop or new Hicks or Hudson figures.

Aliens Ripley and a new Hicks and Hot Toys would have my money again, the bastads.

You know, they almost HAVE TO do a Queen B*tch if they do the powerloader. :p

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Considering there giving the Acid blood bullet wounds for the Alien tells me where getting a Aliens marine .

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Um, Ripley shoots these dudes as well. Don't read too far into neat accessories.

Yeah. Reminds me of people saying that the pipe bomb attached to the MMS238 T-800's base could mean Kyle Reese was being made too. Well, no sign of him.

Nevertheless, since they're revisiting Aliens at all, isn't at least Hicks a no-brainer? The potential for upgrade there is massive with a head that has Michael Biehn's likeness this time and working shoulder lamp and a light up motion tracker. Surely they noticed how highly demanded their old figure was on the aftermarket and the prices it was going for.

That's what was said when the first power loader came out. Truthfully, I think it would be way too big of a figure and as has been shown with the previous aliens, the design lends itself to being fragile. Then everyone will complain about it breaking or it being rubber, etc. etc.

As for the Marines, while I would love to see updated versions, I wouldn't hold my breath. The problem with the Aliens license is that in those days, likeness rights weren't part of the actor's deal with the studio, so in addition to having the license fore the movie, Hot Toys would also need to acquire the likeness rights from each individual actor that they plan to do. This is a logistical nightmare and probably not worth the cost and effort for the amount of figures that they would sell. This is just my 2 cents, though.

Well NECA have been paying up for likenesses. Unless it's a different ball-game for Hot Toys

Yeah, I'm aware of all of that, it was half joking, hence the smiley. While I would love to see a Queen, it probably would be too fragile unless they did it all (or mostly) plastic. As far as the marines go, I think if the actors would be willing to allow HT use their likenesses, HT would be insane not to pony up the cash, they would all sell amazingly well, just the armor and extras alone would cause people to buy multiples. Like what was stated above, Neca has been paying so it can't be too pricey. They already have Weaver's rights obviously, hopefully they have the others as well. We really need Bishop and a ripped in half Bishop has to come with the Queen if it's made.
