Actually having the facehugger have testicles makes sense since it.....well....you know......... But I can see why they decided to change it. Having it basically slam a ***** appendage down the dude's throat is traumatic enough to imply. Having it have testicles very prominently would be pure overkill.

Which, when you think about it, makes the albino alien's tongue attachment even more

Everything about the Facehugger was originally intended to look sexual in some way. It is a common theme in Giger's art.

i prefer thinking of them as biochem factories devoted to properly forming the embryo by pouring genetic stuff a host body is (obviously for everybody except scott theory fans) missing. they're looking like pumping something, not simply breathing.

I've always seen them as lungs too. Seems obvious. We know other exchanges are going on, but the shape and rhythmic nature are clearly to demonstrate that it's keeping him from being suffocated.

the rhythmic nature is exactly what doesn't fit into this lungs theory, because a volume a human breathes in is several times bigger than pulsating volume of those lungballs, while the rhytmn is the same.
and i even posted a gif to show it.

this rhythm can be compared to a heartbeat, which means pumping fluids, but not to breathing, cause breathing needs either softer and wider movements or a lot more often due to a lot lower density of air.
