Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Motuxmen - ask about Rocky and Rambo, and new marines!

I love the recent two-packs they've done, like Robo/Murphy, Keaton Bats and TWS Cap. I still firmly believe this will have an option with a new Alien.

A new and accurate Alien is long overdue, and it needs to be available separately.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

That would be cool. At the risk of coming across as tacky considering I've so recently been among the complainers - Kyle Reese from T1 (specifically his 1984 clothes), remakes of the Colonial Marines from Aliens and John McClane from Die Hard are of particular interest to me :monkey3

T1 Sarah Connor and T2 John Connor would be fantastic aswell - I know they are and have always been a long shot as single releases but I wonder how they might do as part of 2-packs alongside bigger draw items.....

I'll ask about them. I can say now that a two pack of figures from seperate movies, ie a t1 Sarah and t2 john, are not an option. Legally they can not do it. Each film is a unique license. So they could not do a two pack with seperate movies.

The issue with two packs in general is most people are priced out. Its always a possibility, but it's not something you should count on.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

We need you to do interviews. Mark over at OSR is great but the interviews are few and far between.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

I'm not sure if I could do offical interviews with the access I have now. Most of my contacts are workers and assistants. Not Howard direct. But I have asked for more official access recently, in part to do a book project, but also so I can share official info and names which at the moment I really am unable/un comfortable to do.

Official q&a stuff has to go through legal and PR, so even though I don't know the guy you mentioned, I wouldn't be to hard on him. Nor on hot toys. People tend to take things way to serious and literal, or read way to much into it. It's become a minefield for hot toys.

Thanks for this, especially if some of this stuff isn't necessarily in your own area of interest.

As regards the 2-packs idea - I more had in mind a two pack with T1 Sarah and maybe the blown-in-half endoskeleton and/or T2 John with another Clean T-800 (possibly with a new Arnie sculpt on him too). I know not to count on it either way though. The diecast endoskeleton and Kyle Reese are probably the best candidates from the original two films at this point. I can easily see them making the endoskeleton, they mentioned it before at the start of their Diecast venture. I'd like to think they're considering Kyle Reese as he's the hero character in T1 and also they made a version of him as the very first MMS figure. He wouldn't sell as well as an Arnie figure truth be told but he'd be much appreciated by the hardcore Terminator fans and Michael Biehn fan's generally. I know they're not likely to just tell you outright ''yes, we're making that, that and that'', a ''maybe'' or a ''we're thinking about it'' is more what I would expect to hear.

No worries. Though I'm not a big figure collector of terminator or alien I like both franchises. I do have a few terminator figures and would buy a power loader and ripley. And any future marines if they do any (I served in the marines so I have a soft spot for anything marine related).

Makes sense about the 2pack. I misunderstood what you where saying. My bad. Sound like good two pack ideas for sure.

As for the Definative answers..as you said it's more likely to be the vague stuff. And that's mostly due to how fans react. If they come out and say yes we plan to make figure X and things happen to where it either can't be(license not approved, likeness not approved, or just not able to do it or plans change) or won't be for a long while fans tend to get really upset by that. So there's little upside till they get very close to production to tell people. I'm hoping to try and get hot toys to be a little better communication with fans, but a big part of that is also educating fans on how and why things are done, and having a person to talk to and ask questions of that may not know the details of a specific project, but knows the process and how the company operates so that he/she could give a reasonable explanation as to why it takes so long or what may be causing a delay. License goods, especially when dealing with exact likeness items, are such a complex process and most people don't know that so they look at hot toys like they are doing a poor job on things and it may not even be something hot toys has control over. Lol

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Could you please tell Hot Toys to just buy NECA's molds of all the aliens and use those to make their 1/6 figures?
Fans the world over would rejoice.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

For now I have pretty much lost interest in this, it's turning into one of those "eventual" releases that NEVER get prioritised. Once it's up for pre-order I'll be interested again for sure and if anything is shown on HT's FB page or at upcoming events (of which I know nothing about) I will be pleasantly surprised.

Sigourney wouldn't be the reason this is held up, surely? I mean yeah it has to get her approval but come on.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Any chance this Ripley will be the 300th figure??

I know it's more likely to be from AoU considering the giveaway is War Machine, but it would be cool for them to throw us a complete curve ball and anounce Ripley.

Still, I'm a lot more confident after the Batman Returns announcement that Ripley will eventually be produced.

Am I right thinking Alien Ripley and Alien 2 Ripley with Powerloader are the last figures shown at SDCC last year yet to be announced? Not counting Rhino of course because that's never going to get the green light now lol.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

I saw someone post the Ripley prototype in response to that "Guess the 300th" competition, so it's not just you thinking that.

Would be bloody awesome, but I very much doubt it. Won't we see a finished proto first given the last one wasn't final?

Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy was shown at Comic Con last year and also has yet to be announced.

To give her the 300th figure honor would be awesome! And aside from Drax, yes Ripley's figures are the only other ones yet to be announced from last SDCC.

Yeah, would be great if it happened.

I'm not sure considering the Batman/Bruce figure kind of got announced out of nowhere wasn't it? Last time we saw anything about that was months and months ago and we'd never seen anything about the Bruce Wayne figure.

I think when Ripley is announced it will come out of nowhere.

Re: Hot Toys: Ellen Ripley - Alien (Updated with new prototype HS)

Yeah I guess these are all valid points, just because we see nothing for a while, doesn't mean they're not happening.

This will be a pre-order for me, almost certainly so I'm (as many of you are) eagerly awaiting some news.
