Yes, brand new. They're not like loose that they will break off, but compared to IP, they don't feel as strong, like if I were to put a die cast item in their hand or something slightly heavy, it would pull the forearm down. Not a big issue for me but just something I noticed while handling it.

I wasn't planning on getting this so I didn't stay glued to the thread but checking in here and there, there was always talk of issues. How rampant is the shoulder thing (or whatever else is going on)? I just caught up on the last 10 pages and it seems to be the same old. Talk of damages & replacements.

The thing is we're far more likely to hear from people who have problems than from people who got a perfect figure. It could be 1 in 10, 1 in 20, 1 in 50 for all we know. It's a crapshoot.

Yea, that's why it's sometimes hard to gauge. Like the ED 209 thread was dead as a door-nail while people were receiving that amazing looking piece, but the second there were QC issues surfacing, the thread took off 150 pages.

If you want this fig, it looks like Sideshow and replacement part(s) if there are any problems is the best way to go. If you don't mind dealing with the process, that is.

Just got this guy after being on the fence for a long time. Was going to wait for the new avenger suit which seem to be the 42 with better color combination but don't feel like waiting until 2016 or 17. In-hand this piece impresses me more than in the pictures. The intricate colors is nicely done provided you didn't get one with QC issues. However, of the IM3 figures released so far this one has the least interesting 'sculpt'. It's not the fault of HT, but I just find that the whole design of the Mk 42 to be very round and humanoid...so there is less of those interesting lines that you find say on the Mk IV, VI, or the Centurion. The figure is made more interesting with all the engraved details and panel lines, but as a whole I'd say the form-factor of the Silver Centurion and Red Snapper makes the most interesting IM, while the Mk IV/VI is still the best balanced suit imo (the VII suffers a bit of the same problem as the 42- everything seems so round). The torso area below the chest could also benefit from more bulk. Overall, I like it a lot and for novice iron man collectors who are looking for a reasonably priced main suit without paying exorbitant prices for old releases, I would get the 42 and the new Mk III to round off the collection.

Anyone know when UK suppliers will be getting this in?

Got a pre-order going with ToyHQ and the wait is killing me!! :impatient:

Forbidden Planet (.com) have dropped the eta back to 20th December ..which means January 2015
:gah:

I was never a big fan of this design. I was really iffy about it when it was first revealed and it's grown on me a little over time, but I never 100%took to it. Surprisingly, I like the figure a lot and for some weird reason, I find it more appealing than how the suit appears on screen, life sized convention displays, etc. The main thing that's making me think twice is the QC crap

I spoke to Lee at Collectibles Direct & he said that the expected delivery for this was now end of October, beginning of November. The wait is definitely a painful one but as I've got a few preorders now I'm happy enough, I'd still like the figure today or even yesterday already. :)

Replacement arm in. My 42 is whole again :lol

Last I tried a month or two ago, this was the best I could do. I got the fist down for IP but can't do it with this one. Wanted to pose him like one of the IM3 posters.

Isn't there ab articulation? If I'm not mistaken, the abdomen can be extended so that the figure can lean forward. That should help.

I'll give it a go when I'm back home next week for Ted 2. The ab articulation, if it's anything like IP or other IM figures, isn't much at all. His looser elbow joints doesn't help either when going for that 3 point pose with his fist being one of the anchor points. I can't get the upper torso low enough to get the fist to touch the ground, all while keeping his face visible with the open faceplate on.

I just messed with mine a little, the ab crunch seems more limited compares to IP, didnt get a chance to look at both tho

I realized most of these power poses, his head can't look up, so I might end up having him in a standard kneeling pose looking up instead of the 3-point pose, that way I can show off his unmasked look. But I wish I could get these poses to work and look nice. The one where he doesn't even have the knee on the ground, I think it's camera trickery/angles. Looks like that leg is just extended back with little bend.
