I'm packing up my Hot Toys figs last night and got the Mark 42 from my shelf. I'm telling you guys, if you are on the fence for this, get it. It just looks so great in person. Definitely well done.

Really? You don't say. :duff

It should be some kind of criminal offence to not open figures as good as this.

I just got around to picking up one of these. I'm really looking forward to adding it to my collection. I think it will stand out pretty good.

You will love it. It's an incredible figure.

I'm saying this as someone who despised the 42 when it was initially revealed. I thought it looked so gaudy and ridiculous... Now I love it.

I'm in that same boat. Did not like it initially but it's jus so beautiful now.

I'm definitely a born-again 42 man also. I never did such a 180° on something after being so dead set against it. I hated the design at first, and took a very long time to warm up to it. One day I woke up and loved it :lol. Part of the turn off was the comedy that surrounds it in the movie. I'm still not a big fan of that, but became a big fan of the look

I still have to try out all the BD parts but loving this fig so far.

This pic shows an arm from the later batches, the middle arrow shows a single white washer.. On the original batches there were two washers (one on each side of the central diecast post ) that design appears to have put too much pressure on the grey plastic part of the joint articulation, when it was being manipulated.. resulting in breakages, so HT removed the second washer.

So I finally got around to unboxing mine and it looks like I may have a good one because I only have the single washer, but the left arm was disconnected in the box. Not flopping and banging around or anything; sitting in it's part of packaging, just not in the socket.

Do I have anything to worry about? Anyone else get a good one with the arm off like this? It seems sturdy and has a full range of articulation without popping out

Killer pic right there! I went this same direction. With the menagerie of Tony armors we got bombarded with from IM3, these are the 3 I went for

This is one of my favorite Armors from the films besides the Mark I, II and III which I can't wait for the Mark III to show up! This figure is incredible and very beautiful piece. I packed mine away but just reopened him and he's going back on display very soon with the Mark I. Just an incredible Armor and Collectible in general. The Die-Cast really sets it apart from the plastic suits that I have owned and can't pick another one up that isn't Die-cast.

Just got hold of one of these recently - was going to pass in favour of the 43 as I picked up the Power Pose version. This one is so much better than the Power Pose! Still getting the 43 though!

I felt the same way about it. I think it looks awesome, now.

For me, that was one of my favorite lines from the movie. As the XLII is inbound, he is in his waiting pose, and the XLII crashes into the railing. The look, and the, "Whatever," followed by Killian's smirk, just meshed together well.

RDJ's look at that scene was priceless. Makes me laugh thinking about it.

I do think it's tough for many to get over the constant ridicule the XLII is subjected to in IM3. It's the Rodney Dangerfield of Stark's armors.

I agree, but as others have stated it just added to the personality/character of the armor itself, separating it from all the others. I think not being weaponized also bothered people, but that also made me appreciate it more... taking down a copter by repulser blasting a piano, arc blasting a hole through Savin all cool stuff just affirming Tony's "I am pleased to announce the imminent arrival of your bouncing bada$$ baby brother."

As far as the figure goes being my first dc, I only had it out of the box for a few minutes when I realized I was completely sold on the diecast and would start selling my old plastics to fund more.So after I decided to sell my mk 3, 7 and 33 I asked my wife if she were me and could only keep one IM which would it be, she pointed to the 42 and said "that one because he looks cooler". And that's coming from a woman who could care less about Iron Man or anything to do with the franchise in any way.

All this comes from someone who has no favorite mark as I honestly like them all in their own way, but in this case reversed colorway + autonomous prehensile = pure win!!!

MK 42 was definitely its own character in the movie. In hand this wound up being my favorite armor.

I think that last quote was what set my expectation of this being a suit whose personality would be more "dominant." Here you have a guy who has designed these kick-butt suits that can dominate the Earth and aliens alike (The Avengers), announcing the arrival of a new "bada$$" suit, and when I heard that, I expected the XLII to do some real damage over the course of the movie. I agree with you that the suit had its moments. I just think that in my moments of reflection on the movie as a whole, I realized I had hoped for more from what was ostensibly the movie's "flagship" suit.

So true, and again I agree with you. I look at all of my 1/6 IM suits and enjoy them all, as you said, in their own way. Each is amazingly detailed and interesting, all on their own. The XLII is all of that and more, in person. For some reason, it just "pops" visually on my shelf.
