Re: 1/6 Hot Toys MMS 186- Avengers: Hulk- official specs and pics

Considering the Dewback is bigger than this , has better quality extra's, a stand, is much heavier and looks awesome I don't think you can begrudge people feeling a little let down by what this is in comparison with whats out there. (perhaps not the greatest comparison but something similar)

For fans this is probably a must have but for fringe collectors (like me) I'd say this is a total pass. Avengers fans get a nice figure and other folk can make an easy decision. I doubt there are that many people on the fence. You either want it or you don't.

I can see why people like it though.

Is the dewback even articulated? Its more of a statue isnt it? I would say Hot Toys Jake Sully is a better comparison and when looking at all of the stuff Jake comes with for a larger (though not by much height wise) figure and a light up base for only $15 more I can see where people can be upset for the lack of stuff Hulk comes with, but as far as popularity goes I dont see Jake being as Popular or have as large of a fan base as the Hulk. So I think that has a lot to do with price.

Plus you would be sure if this is $300, then having added more would have upped the price even further. Im happy with a bare bones release at $300. Could have gotten a lot more expensive and Im glad it didnt.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys MMS 186- Avengers: Hulk- official specs and pics

Would people have preferred a second hulk sculpt, multitude of different hands, a diorama base and have HT charge $400+ for this guy?? And then they would ***** about the price being so high.

You really can't blame people for being upset over the price when $200 can get you a figure as detailed as Thor or Loki and Hulk costs $100 more for less detail and accessories and all you gain is a little size over the others. Yes his paint has detail, but overall, Hulk displays much less value for his cost than the other figures. At $200 like the other Avengers I'm sure he'd be a hit.

But what people seem to be forgetting is this is a much larger character/figure. Its not a standard 12" character. And its a fully new tooled body. The price should be expected. And when people were throwing out stupid astomically guestimations like $460-$600 prices (WHAT?) then the $300 obviously looks pretty reasonable.

Im sure when people have him in hand they will realize where that extra money went. Hes ****ing HUGE.

EDIT: HULK was NEVER going to come in at $200. That was a wet dream. Those that expected that should be disappointed.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys MMS 186- Avengers: Hulk- official specs and pics

Seems that for a lot of people a 16" green figure would only be acceptable in a visual sense if it were seamless. But of course nobody wants to go near a rubber figure anymore. This half-half strategy, dunno... rubber instead of PVC just for the sake of what appears to be a very modest rotation angle seems to me to be a bit of an odd decision.

True but this aint a million miles away from a statue either. As Lejuan has put it the design choice seems a little muddled.

Nobody's going to move this thing once he's up :)

I'd say $350 with just something else, a sculpted base maybe might have even sold it for me. As it is I can imagine opening the box, looking at it, then putting it on display. There's nothing really cool or fun about him apart from the size. I guess it's the hulk though.

He's not really dynamic. No matter how you pose him he'll alway's look "slightly pissed off" as opposed to full on Rage. Perhaps it's the expression that bothers me? :dunno

I want him in total rage mode :)

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys MMS 186- Avengers: Hulk- official specs and pics

I like the figure for the most part. I've stated previously that Hot Toys' prices have gotten a bit out of hand in general.

My only real problem with this figure is the arm articulation choice. I think figures with joints on muscle bodies have looked fine up to this point and that would have been my preferred design choice. However, since so many collectors seem to want the seamless look, I would think it would have been better to just have plastic arms without articulation. The range of movement is so limited that it doesn't make that much of a difference anyway.

:lol:lol Whoever thought $200. You make valid points regarding the extra head sculpt, hands, base driving this up closer to $400 then people would have complained about that price.

I scored it $260 shipped from AE which works for me. It may not be for everyone.......

- New body, 16.5" tall
- Pants
- Extra pair of hands
- Fantastic paint job
- PERS ?
- 20 points of articulation
...

Approx. 300 bucks

- New body, 18" tall
- Clothing
- Fantastic paint job
- Extra pair of hands
- Accessories, weapons, detailed armor, lots of small detailed parts etc
- Real-like hair with those cool feathers
- Light up Base
- 30 points of articulations
...

Approx. 300 bucks

So yes, in my opinion, Hulk is overpriced. But I think the price is based on popularity, not what's included.

If you calculate the weight of the figure I'm pretty sure more material will have been used on the Hulk than on Jake which would probably justify the equal price tag.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys MMS 186- Avengers: Hulk- official specs and pics

Not a real fair comparison since Toy Square has Hulk up for $275 and Sully from Avatar for $300. Hulk is priced about right imo. Well, everything is overpriced but when comparing and whatnot it's priced right.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys MMS 186- Avengers: Hulk- official specs and pics

I certainly don't disagree with that. But I am going to pay it, in fact, I'm going to pay a lot more than what you people have to pay since we don't have as good prices here in Europe as you guys do in North America. :gah: :monkey2

Ouch......:(

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys MMS 186- Avengers: Hulk- official specs and pics

Yes but Jake can be found under 300 bucks elsewhere as well so.. :dunno

I'm just making a fair comparison from the same retailer. Not cross comparing with 2-3 different sellers.

:exactly: Collector's known this fact for quite awhile. Pay it or don't pay it, the price won't change. :dunno

The funny thing is, even with HT's price hikes they're still cheaper than the crazy expensive Enterbay or Medicom. They're just playing catchup I guess. :lol

It's their own fault for coming into the market with figures around the $85 price point.

I think if people keep paying their prices and continue to as they keep going up, there will eventually be a breaking point where many will drop off from collecting these things and Hot Toys may be in some trouble. That's just my opinion.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys MMS 186- Avengers: Hulk- official specs and pics

All I know is that when this thing ships next year, I WILL HAVE IT ON MY SHELF!

I like the figure completely. I would've like a second HS and a stand, but it not coming with either isn't going stop me from getting it. ESPECIALLY since it is $50 LESS than I thought it would be.

And HT prices aren't going to stop increasing. Stay on board or just off. But get use to it. ANY figure we see below $200 now will be a rare thing. But HT is not going away any time soon. Stop kidding yourself.

Yessir. By the time he is released the standard MMS line will be approaching $250, Hulk will be a bargain.

This is kinda true. You also need to factor in the new crop of crackhead collectors. :lol The key thing is being very selective. I have been that way since 2009.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys MMS 186- Avengers: Hulk- official specs and pics

Also I want to add that Im not arguing that I wouldnt havent liked an extra roaring Headsculpt or a gripping hand or a cool diorama base, but if that were to add more to the cost of this thing then Ill just rather take the bare bones at a more affordable price.
