When that first 20%(?) eBay coupon popped up I was choosing between Dr.Strange or Harley Quinn. I dug Dr.Strange, but I had just got BvS bats at the time. So was kind of excited at the prospect of adding to Batman's Rogues gallery. On the other hand I did have more marvel figures so...

True but it sounds like Howard had no plans to make him. He might have changed his mind in the last couple days. So they might be working to get a prototype with some of the things you mentioned approved and up for PO but i doubt it will be anytime soon.

It is shocking what people are paying for this. $650??!! :horror

Did that interview take place prior to the film being released? He may have had no plans today originally release Doc Strange but things could have changed upon watching and listening to fan reaction.

Yeah, $600+ is crazy high. Can’t say it isn’t worth that at the moment. High quality all around, low supply. Even if they release an IW version, I bet the original stays hot. Not $650 hot, but will still likely fetch a premium.

It was one at the Hot Toys IW figure show in a on mall April 16th. TOYSTV interviewed him as they walked around looking at the figures. So that is why i said he could have changed his mind in the last few days after seeing the movie but to do whatever changes and additions this late will take time and they also have fit it into their production schedule so it might be awhile before we see anything and even longer before anyone has it in hand.

Maybe. Remember when the first Avengers Hawkeye was going for a ton of money because it was the only version that existed at the time? It doesn't fetch much money now.

True. I would argue that the quality and accuracy of that figure are nowhere near what they accomplished with Dr. Strange though.

Nor is Hawkeye near the caliber of character as Strange is in the cinematic MCU.

I agree with Matt. The value now is a supply and demand issue. That Hawkeye figure got upwards of $400 at one point, if memory serves. Even if the next figure has a sculpt that isn't quite as good, more people will get their Dr. Strange fix, and the value of the original figure will go down. This has happened countless times with Hot Toys figures, in particular with Batman, Joker, and Iron Man, but also Terminator, Predator, and of course, various other Marvel characters. But it also happens in the customs world, and even with SSC figures like Bossk.

In fact, after the hype from Infinity War wears off, I bet Strange's value will come back closer to reality. My wife insists that I keep the figure, otherwise I would cash in now from someone who desperately wants this guy on the shelf now! But in the long run, I know this figure isn't going to be worth all that much.

Of course the value will go down if another Dr. Strange is released. The original point being made was that it will still fetch a premium, just not $650. I highly doubt it will drop back down to retail price.

How the original Dr. Strange will keep its value will depend on the quality of the sculpt, costume, and/or accessories of the second release. One example I can think of is Loki. The original one from Avengers is selling for much more than the Dark World version.

The Strange part of this is that in the last few months I've found 3 of them at retail or below.

I see what you did there.

But yeah I think this figure was really underrated early on. Seemed like anyone that didn't have him in hand was kind of meh about him. I was on the fence before picking him up, but in hand he blew me away. Sucks his price skyrocketed because of IW. Even if his price drops I think every marvel HT fan should get this in their collection.

I won't be surprised if we get a different Doctor Strange figure at some point, but I think they'll be hard pressed to make a better figure.

Timcent has one for £580/$788, I want one, but geez not for that much! Hopefully Hot Toys change their mind and make and Infinity War version. Character has really grown on me.

Same here, I really want to get one but not for the crazy prices that is being asked right now

There is one of these on eBay right now with 7 hours left. It’s currently at $800! I have no words :cuckoo:

The high bidder has 0 feedback. Seller might want to remove that bid.

I know everyone has to start with 0 feedback at some point but It’s always unsettling when I sell an item and a 0 feedback bidder bids.

Just sold an item to a buyer with 0 feedback, and he never paid and never replied to my messages kindly requesting payment or an update.

To be fair, I just sold to a buyer with 1,000+ feedback, received no payment and no responses to my messages.

:dunno

But, yeah, I generally delete bids from 0 feedback buyers as well.

Sure, no doubt. You can have problems from anybody, no matter the feedback count or score. Just found it interesting the high bidder has no feedback. Shill bidding maybe?
