1/6 Hot Toys - MMS??? - GOTG Vol.2 - Drax the Destroyer

Unless that headsculpt is changed, Drax will be the only GOTG2 figure that I pass on. It feels wrong to not have him, but I just cannot get past that boring expression.

Without a more expressive Headsculpt , I can't even believe this is a figure over a Yondu . We can't even get the 1st Drax .

I really think they'd be stupid to try to sell another Drax. They should just offer the pants and gun in an accessory pack.

Nothing has moved me enough to pull the trigger on a Vol 2 team.

Maybe if they release Mantis, Nebula and Yondu...maybe. Might just add those three to my Vol 1 set up.

Same here, I am definitely sticking with my v.1 figures (much prefer the looks from that film) and unless they release those three figures mentioned there, I can't see me picking up anything from this film tbh.

Star-Lord is the only one that's kind of a toss up. But his original is pricey on ebay so maybe v2 is the way to go for those just starting out.

It's hard to say .... I remember when my 1st version Hawkeye was fetching a buttload in the 2ndary market ...

The new Starlord does grab me ... the sculpt is so neat imo .

Wouldn't be surprised if this changed before he is released.

It will be the only thing that gets me to order...if he has an updated head sculpt. It also means I won't order till the last second.

I was holding out pre-ordering Drax until his Vol. 2 version was announced. So I'm glad I'll get the blue pants version, but I have to echo the concerns about the head sculpt. This release could really use either a different sculpt or offer an alternate display.

I really hope this figure with the blue pants is just a place holder till it's later finalized when the figure is released. This might ok for a v1 drax, but they really need to improve this for a v2. The body size is all wrong and the blank stare doesn't work either. The body more than anything needs to be fixed, did ht even look at a photo of Dave as drax? The guy is huge!

I'm saving my money and waiting for a potential Mantis and/or Ego instead.

If the first Drax didn't sell well... although they made a prototype, its not a guarantee they will release it.

They didn't bother to re-release Vision for Civil War even though its the same thing. They need another Drax HS to get this off the shelf, screaming expression preferred.

The group that will be inclined to purchase a V2 are completionists who are going for exclusively a GotG V2 display with the characters in their V2 outfits. Those who are sticking with the figures from the first film (such as myself) to represent their GotG display, or those who just want a Drax figure to have him represented in general, I imagine will likely just stick with the first one being that there's very minimal difference between the two. For those people it's basically at this point a case of just give me a Drax figure, I don't care which one it is.

Even with minimal differences, I'm sure this will probably be priced slightly higher than the first.

I was thinking about getting the vol 2 Drax also as I already preordered vol 2 SL and Rocket. Also will preorder vol2 Gamora once it's up. If vol 1 and vol 2 Drax are basically the same figure with different accessories, I might just stick with the vol 1 Drax I have on preorder. My display will be Vol 1 SL, Rocket, Groot, and Gamora on the left, vol 2 SL, Rocket+Groot, and Gamora on the right. In the center will be a pantless Drax, that way, no one can tell if he's from vol 1 or 2.

Aftet seeing the prototype, I had high hopes that HT would beef up Drax. Sadly, this is not the case. That body looks emaciated compared to Dave's actual build.

Yeah it's trick. In the picture above, his lats would expand to do that pose but the figure (understandably) wouldn't do that so he looks smaller. Same with his traps, they would have tensed and raised up but you just can't do that with a figure. I don't blame HT but I suppose it's worth it to wait and see what the next version looks like, if any?

ARRGGHHHH. Basically is how I am feeling. I NEED to have the whole team standing together. I can't just have Vol. 1 complete and Vol. 2 complete sans Drax. But this figure is soooo boring and I don't want 2x the boring Drax's. One is enough. Hot Toys, you've gotta give me something!

Or you know, you don't but darn it! We deserve it.
