It's a totally new sculpt. I've revamped my favourite wookiee, giving him an all new fur suit and resculpted feet as well as a new set of eyes nose and mouth. I'm nearly done hairing the head. Then it's just fine tuning the paint on the eyes and around the mouth.


It's close to how I remember seeing old Chewie.

Thank you for all the kind words Guys , I really appreciate them. The Hot Toys sculpt is salvageable as some of You talented fellas have shown. I don't have the Episode 7 figure unfortunately as I'm not working at the moment. That us what prompted me to go to town with this. ( That and too much time on my hands). If anyone needs some help I'm happy to help.

The base 'under' sculpt of chewie is a bit of a mess. The mouth sits way too far from the eyes and needs to be moved up closer, so i opened it up... View attachment 334204

I'm looking forward to seeing your mods. I think if anyone can pull it off it will be You.

A little detail I found when looking through pics of Chewie is that his feet aren't black. If you repaint them lighter it helps to sell the likeness. That and trimming the fur on the feet. There us another little mod that I'm planning to add which will help, Is to add a loop of thread or wire from the bandolier near the top. Make another loop and put it around the neck of the figure. This will keep the bandolier from slipping and I believe that this was used on the movie costume.

First thing I think of when I see Chewie's face like that is Ghost in the Shell. Chewie in the Shell. Guess since the movie is still fresh on the mind.

Step 2. Treat him for Wookiee Mange
Step 3. Post photos after he's doing better. I have a feeling he will look spectacular.

Wow, can't wait to see the progress on that custom! It's already obvious that the underlying sculpt is lightyears better than the two Chewies HT came up with.

Here is my Han I got in today directly from HK since he was all sold out from US retailers. The bad cell phone pictures do not do it justice. It is an amazing piece, now if only Chewy had come out halfway decent I would've sprung for the double pack.

Great shots. Han is a masterpiece. Easily up there with the best figures in terms of likeness HT has ever released. And the transition from proto to production has to be one of the smallest dips we've ever seen. Cheers!

Damn, it's telling how bad Chewie came out when you can get him from Timcent for $35 under retail!
