Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

Oh boy. I have the ANH 2-pack preordered from SSC right now. That's $500. I think I can pass on this actually. Think I will be happy with just the new characters.

I was thinking along similar lines. I'm sticking to original trilogy releases and only the first release of characters. I imagine my resolve will be tested though when an ROTJ Luke comes around.

I'm hoping for Lando and Emperor next!

Don't know if this is accurate, but the HT site says estimated release is Q3, 2016 -- that's July 1 - October 1. Seems hard to believe.

A moveable jaw would be really cool. Hope that's the case.
The post on Facebook says "articulated jaw"

Han's sculpt reminds me of what HT did with the clean ESB Luke sculpt. Unmistakeable who it is on the shelf but ever so slightly stylized. I'm actually ok with that on this. I think it looks great.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

chewie reminds me of the old furry Hasbro sculpt with the goofy looking face. he did not look that goofy come on put some effort in them before you take a photo to show off your product. chewie also looks like he has popey arms :lol

I'm really digging Han... I think the hair color is pretty accurate as he's grey, but his hair has streaks of a darker almost brown kinda blonde to it. You don't often see people with purely grey hair.

In an outside shot you can see more of the color variation... is HT perfect; no only real hair can look like real hair, but for painted plastic they did a great job. And the hair is a bit "bigger" here. I think an issue is that his hair is fairly thin and you just can't realistically reproduce that in a solid sculpt :huh

The likeness is solid enough for me that when I see it I have no doubts who it is and when it is from. Sure some aspects might be a bit off, but overall it strongly resonates as Han in TFA.

Han looks great in JC's FB pics but I wish Chewie had a closed mouth sculpt this time. Bummer.

Somebody mentioned a moveable jaw on Chewie but I didn't see any pics to indicate this. Any confirmation it's true?

Looks articulated since it's open in one shot and closed in another... at least to my eye the sculpts don't look any different except for this; so I'd guess an articulated jaw.

I could see Chewie being tweaked in production and the face improving... I think the top half of the head (especially the eyes) and color is an improvement; but the mouth area looks odd.

Yeah, his hair definitely has a transparent look in the movie. Considering it's sculpted, it's a pretty good effort. Needs some tweaks here and there though.

Also, I don't understand why people are bashing this headsculpt. It's not like Hot Toys has ever made a perfect figure. :dunno
But I agree that the nose & eyes need to be bigger, and maybe recolor the hair a bit. Other than that this is a really nice figure.

The sculpt nails his face from my favourite scene. Right when he sees his son crossing the bridge.

Bought.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

Based on the JC Hong photos, it looks like the sculpt is a bit stronger when viewed from a lower angle. None of the FB pics really show that angle except for this one. And it's still not as convincing as the head on a stick pics.

But this one below is probably my favorite from the official shots. I'm definitely in for this figure. Still unsure of Chewie, will wait on in-hand comparisons with OT Chewie.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

The sculpt is excellent. The problem with the hair is that his hair is sculpted much fuller than it is in real life. Ford's hair is thin in TFA not thick and full.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

I came to this thread thinking there was no way anyone could hate that Han sculpt.

Welp, I was mistaken.

I definitely don't hate the sculpt at all. I actually like it but with little tweaks it can be so much better.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

There's just something about that Chewie that looks sooo off to me, not sure if its the head is too wide or the colour too saturated?

Yeah i don't know that his hair was ever quite this thick at any age, even in ANH it's full but a bit wispy. Probably hard to sculpt thin hair like Ford has now so just needs to be a bit flatter.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

Oh thank god. Glad that I won't be needing another Chewie. This one looks worse than ANH Chewie. I'm in for Han though.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

I think Han looks great! Sure, maybe not 100%, but it’s pretty darn close. It’s definitely one of the better sculpts they’ve done for SW. I was really afraid this was going to be a barebones release with no coat but I’m really happy they included it!

Chewie, OTOH, I was hoping they would improve on their previous effort more. I would have definitely gotten the set if it was a significant improvement. It’s a little bit better, particularly around the eyes, but something weird is going on with the upper lip and mouth. They also should have also included a bag for the detonators like the one Finn comes with, which he clearly has in the movie.

So Han is a definite buy. Chewie, not so much. I’ve got the ANH Chewie, so at least I have one.

For me, the movie gets better with every viewing. I only saw it once in the theater and liked it a lot. But I find myself really getting into it and enjoying it more and more every time I watch it on Blu. I’ve only seen it 4 total times so far.
