Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

Wow, Opinions are really funny things. I thought everybody would like this Chewie better. To me, it looks miles better than the ANH one. I remember when the first one went out I was superclose to preordering it before it sold out...then they showed the final product and I instantly decided not to get him. This one is so much better. I may actually get him.

Han i'm conflicted about. I don't have a young Han yet and I still feel like we'll get a better one of those. It's a cool figure but do I need him? I don't have any Arnold Terminators but I missed out on them. The only one I can find is the new/old man one from TG. Same situation. If you probably can only afford to get one of a character, do you buy one that's easy to get or the "definitive"?

Like others are saying, sixth scale market is exploding and all that Ghostbusters stuff is MIGHTY tempting...

This new Chewbacca is better then the A New Hope figure, but to be fair neither of them are homeruns :lol

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

Wow, they just can't sculpt Chewie's face to save their lives can they...

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

Han looks amazing as if they captured his expression in the middle of his dialogue. Hair line and jaw line might need tweaking not sure but DAMN GINA!!!

If you compare the initial ANH preorder images of Chewbacca to the actual product the figure was awesome. If you compare the initial TFA preorder images of Chewbacca you know the final product will be out of this park!!!

I told myself I am only sticking to OT and I going to stick with that mantra even here. Great looking figures but not doing TFA line.

Go for the definitive version. But never pay over retail. Get the ANH one since it's still available. But if you're dissatisfied with that sculpt, HT will most likely make an ESB Han eventually someday.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

Hair color on Chewie's face is better but that mouth is horrible. They improved the lip color but its like they wanted to show a snarling mouth with the top lip tightened and pulled back to reveal his teeth but failed completely. They should just give him a closed expressionless mouth like every other figure they do.

Han sculpt is good minus the hair. As mentioned earlier, its way too thick/big/tall whatever.

I'm all for deatil but, is it just me or are all the head sculpts coming out lately have over accentuated skin detail. Everyone looks like Dany Treyo. :lol

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

Han looks pretty great! But old Han is not really how I choose to remember Han. I'll wait for the esb version. Chewie looks a bit off though. He kinda looks like he was stung be bees. lol

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

TFA Han is a great example of why I want a Stallone figure from “Rocky Balboa” as opposed to the original “Rocky”. We recognize the actor but there is so much more information in a aging sculpt. Just a tangent thought!!!

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

I came to this thread thinking there was no way anyone could hate that Han sculpt.

Welp, I was mistaken.
That's just how it is. It's a very good sculpt of Harrison Ford, but people demand perfection and use any excuse possible to rag on HT. Be critical, but dang it better be justified. It's a really good sculpt, and any major criticism of this protoype is a little ridiculous.

That Han Solo is easily one of Hot Toys best likenesses. It's figures like this and their Robo Murphy that make it so hard to pull the trigger on a figure like Ripley or that atrocious Michael Keaton/Bruce Wayne.

Don't forget this guy.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

Generally I like the sculpt looks way more like Ford than the ANH version, side by side comparisons make his face look a little to fat or maybe his eyes are to close together, I think I'd buy it.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

The mouth, eyes and nose are totally wrong. Like his eyes look shrunken in - it's terrible. I WANT a Chewie but this is the 2nd one and I don't think they are going to get it anytime soon. But whatevs, it's still Chewie and it'll look great next to Solo.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

Yeah I really would love a chewbacca figure. But this one and the current one do nothing for me. They look so bad.

The only time I've seen this figure look good is in paramoremcr88's photos.

Obviously it's not the accurate look, it's more of the ROTJ look but I think he looks pretty great here.

Is it hard to pull that look off? Does it stay like that?
