The hair matches the source pretty well. My pic is an overlay of the poster image and the JC test head. It's a percent match from texture, size, wrinkles, color...it's by far the best most accurate head I've ever seen. It's creepy good actually.

Couldn't have said it better...

Guys... remember the head on the stick pics of Finn was perfect also and looked at what we got..some other dude completely. But yeah if this translates into final product :yess:

I haven't visited the Finn thread since it's release but I see what you mean...we can only hope they do better with Han.

HT, bring on Poe Dameron!!!

That Han looks amazing. Not sure I need a second Chewie especially for the price. Will probably just get Solo.

Chewbacca will be my only TFA figure. I actually like the thicker fur and the colouring. It will be the only hero Star Wars figure i get too. Def a lot of mixed views on the figure tho.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

I think it's difficult to sculpt thin old man hair and make it look good.

Exactly... bald, not problem to to suggest a full head of hair (which he has) but make it look whispy is most likely impossible. I think the sculpt captured the right shape and shagginess and the paint color looks as close as you could expect to match. To me it's easily the strongest sculpt so far in the Star Wars line and one of their best overall.

One thing to remember as well is the over-textured skin we are seeing now will be softened a bit in production so I think the likeness and realism of the sculpt will actually improve once the production sculpt looses a bit of the texturization.

Kenobi detailing on the face looks wonderful in hand, so hoping for the same with this one.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

Han looks awesome and glad HT is getting better on Chewbacca and he looks great.

But are these limited? I only collect limited pieces, cause if these are not limited then they suck. Also for investment purpose to get my kids through college at Harvard and for my retirement and also for me ego.

Are you gonna retire this routine at some point?

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

Han is excellent now that we've seen the J.C. sculpt. Which doesn't confirm a lot, but we know they've improved significantly. But that's to be expected with an older sculpt, there's a lot more detail to be captured and that always translates better. That's why all the SA Harry Potter kiddos look weird, there's no texture or age to capture in a sculpt.

I almost expect they'll revise Chewie. It's been a while since I've seen such a universally negative backlash on a figure rather than just strong feelings one way or another.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

The issue with chewie, to me, is that his jaw/mouth area protrudes too much. It should be more chiseled, flatter, below the nose area.

Fix that and good to go.

Hmm, my initial reaction to the Han was that it looked a bit off and weird, but it does seem to be growing on me the more I look at it. Although the head does still seem too wide and the lines not quite as sunken in as they should be. Much like with Obi-Wan, it's got all the right details on there but the underlying shape just doesn't seem quite right somehow.

As for Chewie, it's an improvement over the previous one, but not really enough of one for me to want to trade up. But it definitely looks like it would be easier to futz with though.

minor MINOR adjustment. lowered the top hair piece, shaved a tiny bit off the sides...

God..if we could get another Indy with a younger Ford sculpt as good :thud:

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars: Episode VII - Han & Chewbacca Collectible Figure

My son would not want me to have this figure. He has become turned off by SW since Disney killed off Han Solo. He told me a year ago before the release that he would be so sad if Han died. I told him "relax" thats not whats going to happen. Watching in theatre when Han died I saw my son rest is head on my wife and a little tear.

Has anyone else's kids had the same reaction of checking out of SW because of Han's death? He has a handful of 6" figures but not interested in Han.

That's why I'm excited about Indy 5! I'm hoping Hot Toys releases a new ROTLA or Last Crusade Indy in the run up to the release of the new film. I was too young when the first one came out to have any money, and I'm hoping the new one is an improvement over the last.

SOOOOOO glad I waited this one out. Completely blows the Episode IV version out of the water. In both cases!!

Will look AMAZING next to Rey, BB-8 and Finn!

I don't see what you do. In fact the only thing that's not 100% perfect when you overlay an actual image of the actor is that it's a wee bit to thin. The ears are tucked in a bit and the head is a wee thinner then Ford is. Outside of that when you overlay an actual image of ford ever wrinkle and feature line up perfectly. Making it thinner wouldn't make it more accurate

I guess could use this sculpt for Crystal Skull Indy....:lol
