Yeahhhh, when everyone was doing flips over the articulated mouth this is exactly what Id envisioned it would look like. It def doesn't open wide enough to look menacing and this seal face is the best you'll get. People are wayy to harsh on the new hope version. Comb him right and he's a beaut.

Yeah even if you can futz and fix the rest of the head, that mouth still looks like it could be a problem.

Chewy does not impress me in these pics but I'm sure will look better in others..

A little darkening of the whisker area above his mouth would push that area back a little and go a long way IMHO to improving his overly protruding muzzle.

Chewy looks a bit better there than the bad taxidermy kitten displayed in the cockpit, but this V.2 is sad to see because you realize that there never will be a version of this Chewy that looks accurate in the face. in some ways lightening the fur just illuminates the problems.

They did a wonderful job with the overall figure and the body is astoundingly good, but it's always going to be inherently weird looking in the face until they find a different way to do it. The current underlying base and the way the fur is applied just won't work no matter how many versions they do.

This. A thousand times this! ANH Chewie was fun to futz. Can't wait to work with this new one.

PE posted updated schedule with these arriving in August....Han might be a purchase but Chewie needs further review of in hand pics. Some he looks alright others not so much

I actually wound up liking ANH Chewie right out of the box more than the ones that were futzed here to be honest.

Yeah, I have hesitated to do much to mine - the recolored ones seemed just slightly heavy handed (it's such a difficult balance) and some of the combed ones looked a bit Revlon. With just some quick futzing I thought the ANH version looked pretty great out of the box.

This new one they're still obviously working a few kinks out. The ANH one had some bad pre-release pics too - that one always looked like he was trying to blow a bubble or whistle, this one has that hissing cat thing in some pics.

Need I remind everyone that right out of the box, some of them looked like this?

Painting might not be needed , but I think a lot of them needed a bit of futzing. HT might have started toning down the amount of glue or whatever they used on the cheeks and chin later on in the production run, so some might have been more manageable than others.

It's funny, I remember everyone freaking about those first final product photos, myself included, but now knowing what i have on the shelf a lot of them don't seem that bad. I just see, Well if this was futzed a little better or the eyes were shadowed a bit, etc.

With hot toys now making it apparent that they are going DEEP into OT my plans probably have to change to save space. Probably will pass now on the han/chewie two pack and just get han. Skip resistance rey and only get the scavenger with bb8. This way I can pair old han and luke together and rey with bloody finn trooper. Already have kylo, flametrooper, and jakku trooper. That would have to be it for tfa.

Damn, that looks good. That looks really close to the JC Hong photos. RS takes some of the best SDCC photos.

Yeah I can't tell anymore what this head is supposed to look like. Some shots make it look really wide and flattened out, and others like the one above make it look absolutely perfect.

I guess I'm just gonna have to wait for the in hand pics and video reviews to know for sure.

Why is Han's hair blonde??? First pic of it where it's been that color.
