And it's the most comic booky look.
I don't agree. The Origins version is probably the closest, as it looks a lot more like casual Logan looked at various times in the comics (just missing a cowboy hat), particularly if you have him with just the wifebeater and jeans. After that, none of them really look like anything out of the existing comics. X-3 version is a nod to the New X-Men design, but it came out before that comic. The Wolverine, just some generic black suit, doesn't really scream Wolverine to me at all. He wore a black sneaking suit at times in his solo book, but. . .and the future version, apart from having something that sorta kinda looks like tiger stripes on his ribs looks nothing like any Wolvie I know.

If someone was to design a comic look like this, it would probably be Rob Liefeld or Jim Lee. Way too damn busy, and at the same time, "tactical and modern" like the movie GI Joe designs. I like a lot of things about this film. The future costume designs ain't among them.

I was specifically talking about DOFP. His future suit is his battle suit, like Magneto's purple suit that he shows up in towards the end of the film, those suits they put on to go to battle (even though Wolverine doesn't fight in the future with it). His 70s threads look almost the same as Professor X's in the film, so of the two Hot Toys could have picked, they chose the more unique suit, that looks more superhero-esque of the two.

I hated most of future suits but loved Wolverine's get up. I just wish they would have made the armor a brownish color.

And isn't the case with like every single costume ever made? It's just some guys imagination. You think wolverine in disco threads is more original? The exact same outfit half the world was wearing? Heck I have some vintage clothing I wore in high school from the 70s that looks about the same. I don't see a super hero in street cloths as some great feat of toy or cinema. When I can can/could buy the same look at Sears, not my idea of a cool costume.
Except this isn't Batman or Spidey. Logan isn't defined by his costume like other superheroes might be. Half the time he's in a beater and jeans.

If you would stop and think instead of jumping to an argument like you seem prone to do, his costume in DOFP isn't remotely close to the traditional comic suit. Nothing about it says Wolverine, which is why I'd prefer to display him in his street clothes.

He's got a Hugh Jackman head on. That's Wolverine enough for me. For me, he's established himself as such, just like how I feel RDJ is Tony Stark. Don't get me wrong, his street clothes are fine, but it don't scream Wolverine to me either. If he had the traditional yellow and brown or blue, I imagine he'd be easily spotted in a world where hiding is 80% of the battle.

Yeah I feel as if Jackman has established himself well enough as the live-action Wolverine that seeing his head and claws are enough for me to look at his character and think "that's Wolverine". Again, no preference for the 70s clothes or future suit or which one is more "accurate" to anything in the comics, just saying that I'm glad that HT chose this future suit since, unlike the 70s clothes which can easily be replicated by other companies, it would have been harder to replicate through custom parts given the design.

That said, if I were to buy a HT Jackman Wolverine figure that felt the most "Wolverine" to me, I'd just get one of him shirtless or wearing a tank top with jeans, but again I'm not really the biggest fan of Wolverine.

The figure and outfit both look fantastic! I love Wolverine to death, but I don't think his costume translates to the big screen. Some argue that it never worked for the comics, but they're nuts! Bright yellow, red, and blue are perfect colors for a stealth/hunter character like Wolverine. My favorite outfit of his was always his brown one by John Bryne, but even that would need an overhaul for the big screen. I think they costume designers did a great job!

Speaking of which, I've been waiting for the extended cut before watching DOFP again. For the life of me, I cannot remember a lot of the film; however, I think it will work in my favor because I'll have the "complete" version as "canon" in my mind. Aw nuts! Now I got the "Freshman" by the Verve Pipe in my head! "For the life of me, I cannot remember—what made us think that we were wise and we'd never....."

I think something like the comic version would work fine, so long as they treated it seriously in the film. Look at Spider-Man and Superman. They work fine without any major modifications. Audiences accept them. Even Batman is a pretty ridiculous looking character, but we all accept it, whether you're talking the Burton, Nolan, or Snyder designs. The problem is that films don't want to treat other characters seriously when they put them in classic or pseudo-classic costumes (Cap in First Avenger, previous Fantastic Four films), so it reinforces the stereotype IMO.

Am I the only one here who actually loves his future suit? Lol. I think it's the best suit to date, regardless of how the comic books were. I've grown up with looking at Wolvie in his bright yellow costumes, and I would wait for the Sideshow one for that. But for a real world Wolverine, this is just about perfect for me. Having real world costumes exactly like the comics or animated series would be so awkward and ridiculous.

Another vote here. Love the future suit & looooove the figure! Hot toys really nailed the sculpt :)

This is exactly my thinking. Its already a movie about superhuman mutants, why not go all the way and treat the Classic looks seriously? Is it really such a stretch that they would wear "strange" costumes? I do however think this future suit looks great and its much better than the boring black ones from previous X-men films.

Yeah pretty much. Or sleeveless shirt. Jean vest with cowboy hat would be a cool look. Like I've said before I like Logan in his street clothes so more options for that would be nice.

He's one character you can immediately recognize when he's not in costume

I definitely agree with that one. :goodpost: :exactly:

i just noticed today that his shin guards are of different designs, feels like it was put together by scraps of metal(probably by magneto?) makes me think of the backstories between the wolverine and DOFP
