I'm sure the will do a Mark 1 3.0 sometime. Not sure how much diecast it could have as thing is pretty light on armor to start with. I would be fine with just a little more height and an updated HS and skip the diecast gimmick for once.

Tons of Iron Mans but can now complete the hall of armors in all diecast. Plan to start buying the rest of the armors soon. Is Hot Toys expected to release a Mark I diecast or are they considering the previous one it? I feel if they redid it now it’d be much better

Haha, “is a diecast Mk. 1 being released”-everyone wants to know. I agree with subzro that a 3.0 diecast will be made but honestly the 2.0 is still a great figure and I disagree that it needs to be taller. When they inevitably do release the 3.0 diecast, the knee joints better be made of metal to keep the thing standing. I honestly think that the 2.0 is still a great figure and it doesn’t need a new version but for collectors that missed the 2.0, I am glad that one will eventually be released.

Above is all just In my opinion.

I finally received the Mark IV figure yesterday.

To me it's an instant classic and it could very well be the grail of my collection. I'm going to sell my old Mk. VII and this IV will be the representation of Iron Man in my collection.

I've never owned a diecast figure before, hadn't even seen one in person, so when I took this beast out of the packaging I was seriously surprised and impressed. I figured there'd be some weight to it, but I didn't expect this.

The whole figure, it's proportions, articulation, paintjob, pretty much everything, just screams perfection. It's like he came walking out of the movie and took a place on my shelf.

I really like the Stark sculpt as well. I've heard some people complaining about it here, but I just can't find anything wrong with it. Especially after owning the cosplayer sculpt that came with the VII.

The only minor downpoint is the flimsy crotchgrabber they included with this figure. The pure weight of this figure pretty much renders that thing obsolete, should it decide to take a tumble. So for now I put it on the IW Thor dynamic stand base.

All in all it has been quite a while since I was this impressed by a HT figure and I couldn't be more happy with this one! :rock :rock :rock

I really need to open mine up, had him sitting in the box since getting it, just hadn't gotten around to it. Just watched IM2 the other day, even though there's no major combat while wearing the suit, love all the scenes where he's wearing it.

What're you waiting for?!?

It's fantastic!!!!!

In all diecast? None of the diecast iron Man figures are actually diecast. They are still mostly plastic with a bit of diecast added. I gotta give it to Hot Toys. Add a little bit of diecast and call the figure diecast even though it's still 90% plastic, jack the price up by $150 and people will happily pay extra because they didn't read the fine print and think the figures are mostly diecast. Can't wait for hot toys to add a bit of fake carbon fiber and Jack the price up to $1000 for a "carbon fiber" figure.

:exactly: Popular Mechanics wrote this about those beats headphones but it could easily apply to "diecast" Hot Toys figures.

Beats aren't particularly great headphones, but the $200 b-emblazoned cans are ubiquitous and somehow feel premium enough to justify the pricetag. That's thanks in large part to four little metal parts that are there just to add some premium-feeling heft.

Avery Louie, a Prototype Engineer for a company called Bolt, did a teardown of the a pair of Beats for a post on Medium and found that just four small parts cast in metal contribute to a full third of the headset's weight. These are parts that otherwise have no reason to be metal instead of plastic like the rest of the headset, other than to make the 'phones feel like they're not hollow and cheap.

Hollow they're not, but cheap? Yeah probably. According to some admittedly imprecise napkin math, Louie estimates a $200 pair of Beats headphones are worth less than $20 in parts (which doesn't account for labor and R&D costs, obviously). That they still sell is thanks not only to the ludicrous brand cachet of Beats and Dre, but also those four hidden metal chunks. A little bit of weight can go a long way to making something feel premium.

Honestly, I feel that the Mk. I 2.0 looks great and has held up well over the years. I definitely agree that HT’s will make a “diecast” Mk. I but it could quite possibly be one of their most difficult figures to actually produce using whatever percentage of metal that would allow it to be considered “diecast”.

It really is going to be challenging to incorporate metal into the molds for the Mk. I, In my opinion. I’m looking at my 2.0 right now and the thing that really sets the Mk. I apart from other IM figures is that there actually is a “person” inside the suit whereas with most of the other armors, you put a head or helmeted head on the figure and it’s mostly convincing there is a “person” inside the suit.

A new Mk I doesn’t have to be Diecast to be better. A 3.0 could be all plastic, just with some improvements to the sculpt or paint. The 2.0 is pretty solid, so I imagine they could even make it a straight re-release or a slight repaint. Perhaps with an empty helmet for the HoA and a plain stand to differentiate it from the 2.0.

As subzro touched upon, the Diecast figures are better because they are newer with better engineering, proportions, sculpts, paint, etc. They could be plastic and the only difference would be the weight and price.

It’s human nature to equate weight to quality, which is not always the case. But Hot Toys has found a real money maker with the Diecast Iron Man line so there’s really no turning back till they stop selling. Which almost seems like never at this point.

As long as a new Mark I was properly scaled I wouldn’t care if it were Diecast or all plastic. Both releases were nicely done but really undersized.

Has anyone pre-ordered this from MovieMania.co.uk? I've asked them when they're due to get stock in but they haven't replied in over a week.

wow, after so many weeks, which felt like an eternity, the Mark IV will in Germany in stock at the end of the week. I just paid mine and hope now that he will arrive here on saturday :duh
