Unless of course they start cutting their production numbers and stuff starts selling out before it ever comes in stock again. Then we'll all be back to panic-pre-ordering :ROFLMAO:
Like they say..in Asia there is a huge IM HT following..there will be plenty

SSC Exclusive Special Edition bonus accessory is the saddest looking crumpled Iron Man helmet ever.

I never thought that I would say it, but HT may have just priced me out on a 1/6 figure.

I’ve been running this game with HT for well over a decade and I have spent a ton on just Iron Man figs alone. But half a grand with no option of a slimmed down set of accessories for less? I just don’t feel the need to step up to bat on this one (with or without a timer). Not a good feeling over here today. 😐

Safe to say the battle damaged helmet is plastic (not diecast)?

It's a shame these Iron Man figures still rely on the old battery system for the light up feature - such a pain to install and inconvenient to turn on/off.

The new Obi-Wan and Darth Vader USB light saber feature got my hopes up that Hot Toys was using that innovation for the rest of their figures and abandoning batteries - i think the Mark 1 re-release had one area that was USB powered.

If you preorder the Sideshow Exclusive and don’t care about having the damaged helmet, someone that missed out on it will buy the bonus accessory from you which would take a small chunk out of the price.

Would’ve been good to have a Standard version without the big Iron Monger stand at a lower price point. But they just want to be able to charge as much as they can for these Iron Man figures while people are still buying them up.

More than likely plastic yes. Helmets tend to be.

It’s a shame they didn’t do more to innovate the light up features for a flagship Iron Man figure, I agree. Especially at this price point.

So a little under 17days to decide how badly I want a crumbled helmet :lol Not going to lie, I sort of want it. I've wanted a good MK3 and have nearly pulled the trigger on the original for pretty low prices on eBay but never did. It's still my favorite suit next to the 46 so I'll probably cave on this and get the exclusive :slap

This looks really nice. Not to mention more accurate and impressive. I still have the original MKIII and the diecast. I’ll probably sell them both for whatever loss I need to take to offset some of the cost. It’s so funny how they place the new one beside the previous diecast as if it was some shrunken, misshapen oddity. These days you never know when HT is going to do a reissue and take the air out of the value of an existing figure, but that’s the way it goes.

But it will be "state of the art'... with a maglev stand.
I was planning an exit by 2030, I figured we'd have all the Dooms and X-Men and whatever by then. But with the way prices are going, I may just be out sooner...

But not before I get my very own Clown Kang dolly!

You know that's possible. That's what I was expecting myself, a MKIII re-release for the 20th, which is why this here is a tough spot for me. Same for that Tobey-Man. I don't want to pay that much cash now and have them announce a Raimi specific version 2 years later. But with the way prices are going, who's to say they'll even be worth the higher amounts they'll be asking? This hobby is more trouble than it's worth sometimes...

That’s why it’s good to just get a version of a character and stick with it. I don’t need it to be 100 percent accurate or for it to have an accessory. If I like it enough I’ll get it. Don’t want to buy figures I don’t need anymore or wait 4 yrs hoping for this company to make what I want. I only have two iron men but want this one

Yeah, applying a perfectionist mindest to pop culture collecting isn't good for the health. If for no other reason than them wanting to rerelease the same things for more money, the accuracy will never be good enough.

It's why I was projecting to be out by 2030, tops. I know that a decade later we'll be getting yet another Strange/Stark/whatever that'll look even better than the ones we have and all that. Not to mention that a reboot is likely, so then I'll be tempted by another Tony and Doom and so on and so forth. With even crazier prices I imagine. This hobby is a pain sometimes. Paying attention to the rumours, the prices, getting the special cases, figuring out where everything fits, FOMO and so on and so forth. Half a grand for a plastic toy is nearing absurdity. I'll pay it because it's Iron Man, but 200$ here, 300$, it's all too much too fast in uncertain times. I just don't know.

That's kind of what I've been feeling lately. I'm getting tired of waiting for them to do the most "ideal" version of these characters in figure format. It paid off for me with Darth Vader with the recent Obi-Wan version but there will no doubt be more Vader's down the road. But how long am I gonna wait for them to announce the "perfect" version and then how many more years do I have to wait for it to actually release? I'll be on my death bed by then.

Sooner or later I'm gonna be just too old to be chasing after the perfect version of these characters. I'm in the "just take what's best available at the moment" approach for a lot of these. There will no doubt be a 3.0 of this suit maybe 5 years from now but by then you're looking at yet another 2 year release window on top of that. I just don't care to wait that long.

It's why I've been excited for INART entering the field since their figures actually look to be the "top of the line" selection when it comes to the characters that they do. Of course that can all fall apart if their production sucks but as of now, their prototypes are up there in terms of quality and look. They suit that "one and done" itch that I have for characters. Hot Toys on the other hand makes me feel like a mouse chasing cheese that's dangling in front of me on a stick and string. It's never ending with them.

If I were getting this, I would want the crumpled helmet to display with him when using the Tony head. It tells the story of where his damn helmet went!

I'm in the exact same boat. Well, not the death bed bit, I'm probably on the lower end of this forum age wise. But I got into this to sort of close the chapter of my childhood. I don't want to be 50 and still monitoring forums for news on dolls. My field is demanding and my free time gets reduced every year. There are a few characters that I'll always be on the lookout for, and hope to have enough spare money and space one day for a 5K$ Doom or something, but I can't be an "active" collector for a lot longer.

HT I feel at some point turned into 1/6th Hasbro. You can see that a lot of their recent figures lack that "something". Everything feels really automated and assembly line. The quality has not suffered per se, but there's a reason a lot of people in the community bought into the InArt hype; they felt as if they were upping the game when "high end collectibles" have been stale for a while. And then the delays started, and they announced things like Mera and RockAdam when everyone wanted them to do the perfect T-800 and Conan, and the cycles keep repeating...
