Damage doesn't look like what HT is offering up.

The battle damaged chest included with this figure is just the existing Robocop 1 version they did previously with new paint. This whole figure release is basically "Robocop 1 do-over, except we're throwing in some robocop 3 junk nobody wants so that we can pretend it's a new version and not just a repaint."
Which is still great for people who missed out on Robo previously or really wanted a better paintjob, but nobody will pretend to care about robo 3.

The chest damage seen on-screen in Robo 3 is actually the same costume mold as used in Robo 2 but painted differently with very light modifications. Although that's not surprising, Robo 3 was nothing more than a cheap studio cashgrab and poor imitation of what came before.

The BD option is an afterthought. Not accurate to anything on this movie. What I fear the most is HT adding new parts later but I doubt it.

Still, PO’d at SSC. The only Robo I have is EB’s, and as nice as it is, it is a beautiful looking, cheap feeling, fragile POS. No play factor to be had. Everything comes apart when you love it. Those fingers, Jesus.

It also helps that I don't buy everything that comes out anymore like I did 10 years ago. I was an idiot.

I've never ordered anything Hot Toys before. If I hold out until after release am I going to get screwed over my after market prices?

Wanna see the final paint job before I consider pulling the trigger on this.

Depends if it sells out, which it wont.

Why would you preorder when you’ve stated repeatedly that these things don’t sell out anymore?

You’re right, they don’t. Take DX19 Batman for instance. The initial hype wore off in what, three, four weeks? Now look, you can get a parted out Batman for $175 and the full set for $240 and that’s RIGHT NOW. Wait a little longer and it will no doubt drop even further. The nice thing is, the other versions steadily drop as well, DX02, DX12 etc. can be had for their original MSRP or less on the secondary market.

Robocop 3 is going to be the same way. The original one was. I waited almost a year before buying the regular one and got it for like $210 then bought a bunch of extra parted bodies and the mechanical chair for less than $200. Same thing will happen with Robocop 3.

I think it’s very telling how Sideshow has the whole “don’t wait, order now” countdown clock for the exclusive versions of items. That to me says that these things aren’t selling like they used to and they resort to fear of missing out tactics. Unfortunately, not even that seems to be working. Dropping $300+ on a doll IS ridiculous, anyway you cut it. Legacy characters like Batman, Robocop, Spider-Man, Darth Vader etc. are always going to be in circulation . . . and consumers are catching on. Look at that new shiny Darth Vader, everyone is jumping on the ride for that one. Guess what? The prices are tumbling down on the old ones and the REAL value price is emerging. In a few years, the same thing will happen to the current Vader when a newer, betterer version comes out. You gotta take into account people’s attention spans as well. In one week Hot Toys unveiled Vader, Robocop and Spider-Man and they won’t be out in people’s hands for a couple of years. That’s tons of time for people to lose interest and make way with future figure releases that get them excited.

Me? I’m getting this Robo, but I ain’t preordering. Going to wait until it’s heavily discounted. You talk about cheapness with the Enterbay one? The original Hot Toys one is just as bad with it’s detoriating joint sockets. No indication this Robo 3 repaint will be any better with the way Hot Toys operates.

That describes the Hot Toys one pretty well too. The shoulder joints cracking over time, the rubber at the elbows and knees may deteriorate over time and the articulated fingers popping off while trying to insert the gun. Not fun but looks great on the shelf.

Now I really hope they have learned their lesson from the ED releases and this Robo will not have the old issues. Otherwise, I may have to suck up on the deposit with Kit and not buy it at all when it comes out, then get one at a discount later AFTER watching the reviews.

I haven't got the slightest problem with this figure being "officially" from Robocop 3. If the figure is just half as good as how awful the movie was, it can only turn out absolutely bad-ass.

That being said...
Behold, friends of the extraordinaire... the dome of my ED209. Absolutely mint. It's the very first version, bought in 2007, pictures taken today. I sh* t you not. Granted, the figure has never been on display, so maybe that helped. 15 years. Well, it's the exception that proves the rule, right?

We love to look at pictures. Here are my Robocops. Bought around the same time. Back then, HT called them 'Model Kits'. If I remember correctly, the Robocop 3 figure was quite sought after. Probably because many missed the first figure, same story as always.

Granted, these Terminators absolutely don't belong here, but since some mentioned that HT should revisit these figures, it can't harm to look at the 'oldies'

Nice.

I have the first endo and Kyle, they are old and look a bit doll like by today’s standards but they’re still pretty cool and definitely nice to have.

Actually quite impressive when you think about when they were produced and compared to whatever else was out there at the time.

A fully articulated endo skeleton! Thats great even by todays standards, just the paint work let’s it down…

This has been in my preorder basket on and off for the last week.

Do I need it? (with the other 2 Robocop releases and Murphy). Nope.
Do I want it? (if it's accurate to Robocop 2's paint job). Maybe.

It's bad that you can't trust Hot Toys when it comes to paint apps on the final release after years of being burnt.
