I would say Reeves/Dano's Riddler may be even farther removed from its source than Nolan/Ledger's Joker.

But of the two representations, I like Ledger's Joker best as a villain and Bat-villain.

In that dark, hard-edged world, Riddler would likely be my 2nd favorite incarnation. Which is the best I was hoping for out of The Batman.

Zoe's Catwoman is light-years better that Anne Hathaway's.

Ledger's Joker is the leading example of how deviating from the source material can be a good thing, actually. Every change they made was in service to the themes of the character and elevated it beyond what a straight adaptation would look like. I nevertheless still want to see the Mark Hamill style thing attempted in live action, though. Unlike most I'm really not tired of seeing Joker on screen, he's a versatile, highly malleable character.

Dano's Riddler deviates more than Ledger's Joker but it works really well within the context of the film.

The changes made to Dano's Riddler fundamentally alter who the character is, in a way the changes to Ledger's Joker didn't, but I actually really liked what they came up with. Riddler's archetype, of the too clever by half genius criminal who leaves taunting clues at his crime scenes, has become a well worn cliche in crime drama. A straight adaptation runs the risk of being played out and uninteresting as a result.

So instead he's been redesigned as a guy who sees himself as an ally to the Batman's cause, and so leaves coded messages to Batman that he figures only Batman is capable of fully understanding. It completely inverts the character but in a way I find really clever and it was one of the smarter choices in the whole film, imo.

I'm less jazzed about the actual costume design of the character, which I think leans way too hard into the zodiac thing, but eh

I don't know, green suit is one thing, but I have a hard time envisioning that green derby and a walking stick.

I don't think Dano will ever be the Riddler you want so badly.
TLJ Luke was a hard learned lesson. No expectations, just what I would like to see. Zodiac angle worked well enough for me.

More "kato" talk I see. It's been 10 gd years and people are still talking about coats and socks, ffs's.

People spend more money on 1/6 dollie wardrobes while they buy their XXXL clothes at walmart. You really can not make this **** up. Custom talk is the worst thing that's ever happened to 1/6 collecting.
why?

I remember, back in the day, I told my dad about the whole debacle. Now, my dad's a real outdoors type. His business is with nature, not any hiking hobbies and the such. Grueling hours, lots of sweat, infrastructure and the such. You get the point. I expected a "Jesus, the things people spend money on" response. Instead, he found it perfectly logical that in such a high end collectible, people would go the extra mile for something such as custom socks.

I'm not getting anywhere with this, I just wanted to paint that picture in your minds. A gruff ex-biker club member woodsman/farmer/Popeye fisherman-esque guy who goes 40 hours without sleep finding it perfectly logical for people to be ordering custom socks for their dolls. Granted, he's always been a closet bookish type of sorts, but it's still a fun image.

See guys, we just have to be honest with people. I'm sure if we tell them that we collect half-a-grand dolls to put them in glass cases, and after fudging with their clothes and hair, come up with fun displays, they'll surely not do a 180 and cut off all contact! In fact, I may just make that my opening line in my next date. Joker's Socks is going to be such a fun story to start with!

I mean, yeah, but... Hathaway's got the mummy vibes...

We all know Bruce is a MummyChad, let's not beat around the bush.

Hathaway is the kind of innocent "oops my dress fell off" kind of girl; the type you attack... not the dirty-sexy type that attacks you; the type that wakes you up in the good way. That's Zoe.

Bah, my Tulpa gf does both. IRL 3D Women are so overrated...

Kidding aside, Hathaway got HARV'D, I doubt she's that innocent. And Kravitz used to date Ezra Miller. I'm pretty autistic and weird, but I'm not going anywhere near that type of crazy...

What the **** are you saying?
  • Anne Hathaway got HARV'd: She used to be one of Weinstein's girls. Ergo, she's not such an innocent gal as Wor-Gar implied.
  • Kravitz dated Ezra Miller: The latter's a weird dude, which follows that Kravitz has some of that weirdness in her. The implication and joke being that weird as I am, I still am apprehensive to interact with that level of Hollywood weirdness, regardless of the physical attractiveness of the female party in question. The gif of the, usually fearless, Space Marine fleeing in horror, is supposed to add to that and heighten the comedic effect.
  • Tulpas: It'd take you 5 seconds to google it.
  • 2D > 3D: Internet meme from the 00s.
I must confess, twas quite the difficult post to decipher. But you asked so nicely that I just had to do you the favour...

I remember a time when people lurked before they threw ***** around...

I was rating the two solely on their looks and "style"... I don't know either of them so I have no idea what they are really like or who's the freak and who's not. They're both actresses so they're likely both freaky.

I would like to see both Cats together though to see who comes out on top. :)

Oh, in that case Hathaway clearly wins for me. She's taller and has a better figure. Kravitz has the better cheeckbones though. She was also obviously the more accurate Catwoman, but I prefer Hathaway as an actress in general.

It's less a "what the **** do those words mean" question and more a "you sound like you've been asked to leave the Gamestop after four hours of talking at the girl behind the counter" exclamation.

You're right. Absolutely. The forum where 20 people gather to talk about 500$ dolls, based mostly on childrens' media, that we'll then put behind glass cases, truly deserves nothing less than my most serious attitude and posting...

Besides, I don't talk to the girls at Gamestop for 4 hours. Come on! For one, there's no Gamestops where I live, duh! Two, I'm clearly too much of a spergy autist to talk to them. Tsk, tsk man. It's like you don't even know me. I'm hurt...

I'm a sucker for cheekbones. And petite women. I also think Zoe's mother is gorgeous.

Takes nothing away from Hathaway, she's beautiful in more of a classic way.

Hathaway = wife; Zoe = mistress -- I could live in that place.

I love good cheekbones too, but petite... Eh. I generally gravitate more towards something like classical beauty over the more "fiery" hotness. The best case is when the two are balanced.

Repent sinner, and stop debasing the sanctity of marriage!

Dano could wear a dark green Blofeld style outfit and no mask.

As for Catwoman, I've never been a fan of the character, but the three times she's been in a movie, I didn't mind it.

Returns Catwoman still the coolest most iconic design.

Rises and The Batman are about the same. Zoe has a better face. Hathaway better body. Both versions were used well enough. Better than Returns. She did nothing in Returns.

Julie Newmar is still my all time favorite. The total package. 😛😘😍🤤
