I know this has been debated endlessly before, but I'm really wishing they had gone for the deeper bluish-purple the coat seemed to have on screen, versus the lighter purple of those Ledger promo pics.

And even in his first appearance in the suit, the coat was far more dirtied and weathered up than they've made it. Not sure why companies always hesitate to go that extra step.

I always prefer screen representation over what the prop actually looked like.

This look reminds me of the hospital scene, when he says, "The mob has plans. The cops have plans. Gordon's got plans. They're schemers. Schemers trying to control their little worlds. "

I can almost see the figure telling me that. Also convincing me to buy him.

Heads: Sculpted pack
Joker: Mhhhhhhhhmmmmmm
Tails: Rooted pack
Joker: Now were talking

🤣🤣🤣

I dunno though. Phoenix def gives off those more incel vibes.
Obviously. He's a lonely neurodivergent manlet who went nuts. Ledger was 6'0"+ and an operator. I just found that pose too easy to pass on.

But truth be told, Arthur was just dealt a bad hand. How the word incel came from being used by a bunch of self-loathing lonely autists on imageboards, to turning into a Twitter insult said by blue checkmarks who champion tolerance will never cease to surprise me. It's "virgin" all over again. We just go around in circles, nothing ever changes.

Anyway, I've said it before but Phoenix was never Joker to me. A film adaptation yes, but I'd never add him to a Batman shelf. He'd go in the movie section. If someone made a Travis Bickle or Gosling Driver, he'd fit right in. Well, I do have a Patrick Bateman coming in, so on the off chance someone like JND makes one, he'll have company.

I got you. I knew what you meant. I was just having fun - not making a wider comment on society.

But yeah, I like The Joker movie fine, but can't see him as the Joker. As you said, he's very much in the vein of all those great 70s and 80s characters studies.

Oh, I got that, no problem. I just find it funny too how words and norms never change. Virgin became Incel and Wizard became Volcel. The lingo just changes shape but no matter what the same patterns repeat.

not making a wider comment on society.

If our Joker dolls live in a 1/6th society, do they face 1/6th the amount of problems? 🤔

Exactly that. It's a film first for me, an adaptation second. It is a bit of rehash in general, so it makes sense that it has the same vibe, nevertheless is works. What it comes down to though, is that I wouldn't feel comfortable adding such a figure next to a Battinson. Next to a Bickle and the suchhowever? He'd fit right in. QS answered a comment on FB back in the day and they said they had no plans, so I think it's a licensing deal and WB/Phoenix/Phillips don't want Arthur toys to be made. Maybe JND will fare better, but I doubt it.
