1/6 Indy Customizations: Image Thread

This is a good point and brings up something that many of us have battled with over the years (I'm talking about collectors of full size Indy gear).
Do you get something which matches how it APPEARS on screen, or do you get something which is the same color as the actual costume the actor was wearing on set. For me - I prefer to have something which is the same color as the real costume when it is seen in person.

Believe me - I'm no stranger to the real color of Indy's gear. I've been a member of the Indy gear Club Obi Wan forum for many, many years and I met with the late Noel Howard and also owned several of the Raiders shirts which he offered to fans. His shirts were made from the same fabric as Harrison's shirts because Noel Howard was the production manager at Berman's and Nathans Costumers who provided all of Harrison's costumes for the first three movies.

To summarise - the Kato shirt is beautifully well made but its color is more reminiscent of the Crystal Skull shirt which is definitely more "greenish" than the Raiders shirt.

I will take some photos of the Kato gear laid directly on top of some Noel Howard Raiders pants and shirt so you can see for yourself.

At Indy gear, they mention how the Indy shirt - despite how it appears usually and is represented in toys - is not white or even off-white, but rather a middle grey (that does seem a little greenish in places.)

They show Indy in the airship in the white steward's coat, and also next to Marion's white costume and you can see it is anything but white.

Maybe it's a bit like Han's Hoth coat - it is another color in reality, but we remember it a certain way. Kato's may be more correct than SSC's or HT's shirts.

Received my mfisher belt rig and whip in the mail today, they look almost too good to take out of the box! Spectacular work Mike I am beyond impressed. Love the weathering on the holster and the whip is fantastic!!! Need to gear up my HT Indy now.

Just painted it on with a very fine (20/0) brush. Using Gouache and blending it in with clean water.

here is a big close up in harsh daylight, which isn't flattering but shows the brush strokes.

the beard is much less 'ginger' in hand.

Yup those are Kato jacket,shirt and pants. The Holster only is MFisher.

Honestly, I don't know why people want to replace this body, arm articulation limits aside, I am quite impressed. It's a great solid piece to pose and work with!

For those who are interested, here's a natural outdoor lighting pic that I took showing the HT muscle body wearing the Kato jacket, shirt and pants. Next to it - I've put the HT clothes onto a slim build "Goemon" body. To me - the Goemon body is TOO slim and looks like the clothes are oversized for it.
The colours in these pics are pretty representative of how the colours appear in person (at least they look correct on my computer screen).

Also, for anyone wondering (like myself) here is the SS figure with the HT jacket on -- instant improvement...

But the real curiosity here is the SS head on the HT geared body...

You know maybe I will get the Kato shirt and pants after all, I wasn't sure, because I can't get the jacket anymore, but now that I see the comparison in your pics, I might go for it. I still have my great sovereign jacket, so It might mesh well with the Kato Attire.

The Kato shirt and pants are beautifully made. Even though I wish the shirt and pants were a more accurate color match to the Raiders versions - the cut and fit of them is perfect. The Kato pants are longer than the HT pants so you can get them to bunch up around his ankles - just like they did when Ford was wearing them. Highly recommended!
