I decided to tackle the chest hair situation and but more color to the cheeks using the rosy technique.

Great work on the customs guys!

I received my Kato jacket, shirt and pants yesterday and snapped a couple of pics today. The workmanship on Kato's items is outstanding. I tried to curl the collar of the jacket over like Ford's Raiders jacket and I think it worked out pretty well.

I still can't decide if I'll use Kato's shirt because the color seems to be more "green-ish" like the Crystal Skull shirts. I remember reading an interview with Neborah Nadoolman-Landis (Costume designer for Raiders) and she stated that all of Indy's clothes were intentionally given an "earthish brown" tone due to him always "digging in the ground". When I put the Kato shirt on, it just doesn't looks as "Raiders-ish" to my eyes but there's no doubt - the quality is absolutely as good as you can get.

Here's a couple of pics. (Indy's patiently waiting for the upgraded holster, gunbelt, whip and bag strap from mfisher so I haven't bothered to put the HT versions on the figure).

I decided to keep the HT muscle body because I think it looks better with the scale of the Kato jacket and pants. I tried putting them onto the "Goemon" HT body that I got from Paul Carson, but due to the size of the Kato stuff, it just looked like someone wearing clothes which were 4 sizes too big.

You've done an awesome job! TOD Indy is the best! I hope to do the same thing, once I finally get my HT Indy. What did you do on the shirt to get it that color?

I'm nearly there with TOD Indy. Quite nice to have him standing on my desk actually! Always wanted one.

This is still not finished, with some temporary bits still in there and some more facial touch ups to do...

Great pics! And I agree 100% I really think the clothes make an impact on the likeness of Ford, I think HT kinda goofed with their jacket, because I did notice the difference when I switched to my SS jacket. :yess:

And with the customizing I did to the beard, I really can see Ford now!

OK Got my second head which I plan to repaint. After reading Rorywan's post with what he did I thought I'd have a play on the computer first to see if the options made a difference to HF's likeness. I know its not a true representation compared to 3D but its a good reference point. Not completely convinced though, what do you think?

But you just squashed the head and re color graded it?
That's not the same as a repaint mate!
Photoshop does not equal paint (unless you use about 30-40 layers).
Good luck with it anyway.

Yes! I did say that is wasn't the same didn't I? It was to give a feel of wether it would look more like HF. AND if you had a keen eye you would see that I extended the eyebrow, darkened the shadow on the left lip to try and emphasis his raised lip and added more stubble! Sorry it's not the quality of yours!

Does it look more like HF???

Also of you using 30-40 layers on photoshop to add colour your doing something wrong!

I am going for an "Idol Grab / Opening Sequence" with my Hot Toys Indy ... Here are some very early in progress shots of the hat, notice the pinch:

In progress, 1st try:

And again, same pic, notice the color of the jacket and the rounded collar:

Think it will take at least two more revisions before the hat is accurate.

Mixed acrylics with satin varnish and applied it in washes. It works a treat. No need for dye.

Excellent work! Damn I was perfectly fine not getting this and then a stream of immensely impressive photos start showing up....great work!
----WOW !!!
Wow!!!:clap
The sweat makes the figure look so real. I am contemplating not sending my second figure back to sideshow, so I can try a MOD. Not sure if it is wort ruining this figure in order to practice. Think I will send back and just buy a few sculpts to practice on first.
Great work, Rory!!!!

:bow
:horror Holy Aum Namah Shivaya!

That looks great - one of the best out of box mods I have seen in a long time!

Now I'm having to think about getting this one... :gah:

Thanks everyone for your kind words, I had great fun doing it. I really reccommend you have a go, if anyone needs any advice, just ask me.
I learnt quite a bit in the process of doing it. I've gotten quite a few requests for commissions, but I wouldn't have the nerve to paint someone else figures! Sorry, I'm new to this, but thanks for asking!

I will post some more pics when it's finished.
