Well you can't say the sovereign is more accurate then Katos as katos is based on the jacket from totcs, I hope Kato eventually finds the correct material to make a raiders jacket.

No, I was referring to Raiders mate. Katos jacket and shirt are just awesome but obviously not correct for ROTLA. Yeah, I think he's teasing us with a possible Raiders version which would be amazing.:hi5:

Very outstanding progress on ToD Indy! Especially love that first photo!

So what happened with the PERS shaving? Did you finish? Is this head the beneficiary of that work?

Thanks man, and no that is another head I'm working on for a Raiders version, but I'm tempted to try it with this now. I'm worried I might mess up my paint with the heating though!

@ Rory - :horror:horror:horror:horror
That.is.INCREDIBLE!!!!! :panic::panic::panic::panic:
Seriously mate, that is badass! :clap

Thanks TFG!

Phenominal Rory.... only advice I have for the TOD Indy is really small... I think the trick to making the torn shirt look right is soaking the area over his right shoulder with water and hairspray and scrunching it up so it dries that way... it will bring the shirt off of the top of the shoulder and just look more like the movie costume.. (if that even makes sense).. there;s something about just cutting the sleeve off that doesnt get the right look... but gathering up the material in that area does...

Thanks Mike, especially coming from you man!. I completely agree, I'm actually doing something similar with a mixture of satin acrylic varnish and water. I'm gonna do the final touches when I get your stuff to add. Then shift the shirt around to create a look, I want to be able to see your work on there too!
Thanks for the advice!:hi5:

Rory....You are the Master! that is just incredible craftsmanship on your Indy piece!

I don't know what seems to be that you have an issue with me for whatever reason, but I want you to know that You and others have truly inspired me to customize my Indy,It's the truth, I've been collecting for over 20 years now and have been customizing even longer, and what I like about this piece is that the more work you put into it, the more of a likeness of Ford as Indy you can get out of it. Is it 100% accurate, No, but I'm not expecting it to be, because the sculpt was not designed that way, but this has to be the most accurate portrayal of Indy IMO in an action figure so far, and I applaud HT to attempt it.

The fact that it's such a solid piece to work with and improve, makes it even more appealing. Even now, I'm still not satisfied with mine, and I'm going to add more to it.

I just wanted you and all the others on this thread to know, could they have done more a job to make him look like Ford as they did with the CR Superman...Absolutely, But for whatever reason I'm still pleased with the results, especially that HT gave us such a good base piece to work with.

He's been "teasing" for a long time now :( Numerous mentions of "I just need to find the right material." I'm optimistic, but very cautiously.

Aah man, Guyver I'm only having a laugh with you mate! I find your posts and pictures very entertaining, I'm sorry for being a ____, but trust me I was only joking! I love the fact you are so enthusiastic and creative with your set.
:1-1:

But you have a Sovereign jacket Marf don't you?
:monkey3

This might be a noob question, but what is 'totcs'?
Man I would REALLY love to score either a kato or sovereign jacket. Why are they so hard to find?

I think it should read TKOTCS which is the kingdom of the crystal skull! Kato literally sold out of his jackets a couple of weeks ago and I picked up a Sovereign jacket from another kind boardy here who sold his. Keep an eye open in the Sales section.

Ahh...the heck with it, no matter how much I tried to stain it, I wasn't getting the look I wanted, :slap

So I decided to soak the Friggen shirt, I'm still working with it. I'm going to add more sweat to him, What do you think? Rory, I'm interested in your opinion especially.

Nope! :lol I went with Kato's instead, doing a few mods to make it a little more Raiders-esque. The Sovereign does have more of a Raiders vibe, but in terms of overall look (quality, fit/hang, etc.), nothing compares to Kato's work imo.

Wet the whole thing Guyver. Then dab it with washes, because the shirt is wet the paint will spread out naturally, and you can add clean water back on top as you go. Maybe thats what you are already doing. But use very light washes at first. Leave it dry, also if you put the shirt on wet it will hang better. Just remember to squeeze the collar flat with your fingers when it's wet. For a real "sweat" look mix acrylic varnish with a little dark brown and allow it to soak into the wet shirt. It's a trial and error thing Guyver, but the key is always work onto a damp fabric. By the way your head looks better now than I have seen it do before.. Leave it alone! looks good!

Only kidding man, yeah Kato's is awesome, a work of 1/6 art. I love the sovereign as well though, not the same level of quality obviously but it feels very Raiders. Look forward to seeing your mods on it, I'm afraid to touch it! And those damn buttons on the shirt keep popping off! Kato! Can I have some more!?!

Great job Rorywan!!. I have my custom tod abandoned for several months. Someday I hope to finish and look as good as yours :hi5:

I specially like the light-shadow on third pic

Guyver, take in count the advice of Rorywan, You just need the sweat effect of the shirt more realistic with more marked and defined spots in some zones. Varnish is your friend after all.

Actually, RJ, I 'm putting Rory's advice into work right now :yess: I'm waiting to see it dry, so I'll know what to add. :)

@ guyver1 - Rory beat me to it, but yeah, do exactly what he said. Water is your friend! I also use it to blend the dirt/sweat in by outlining the dirty/sweaty area with clean water(or a very light wash of brown)
Of course the shirt should still be wet while you do all this.

Using water to make the clothes hang naturally is also a technique Ive always used, and I once thought I was the only guy who was 'OCD' enough to do it until I read that Elvis and Rory use it too!:slap
I soak the item of clothing and kind of shape it to the body. I also like to fold the figures arms and legs to get natural creases behind the knee and elbows.

Never tried the varnish and dark brown technique for sweat though. I'll be sure to use than on my Indy once I get him.
Thanks again Rory.
