It is my pleasure to present photos of the Sovereign Studio 1/6 figure of Russel Crowe as Maximus in the film Gladiator.
This figure is a package which include his blue gladiator tunic, leather garbs from his first solo battle as a gladiator in the provinces, "Are you not entertained!", left shoulder armor, and then there's the torso armor and chain mail garbs from the battle of Carthage, the first battle in the Colosseum. Also included are his gladiator sword and 2 head sculpts, one standard Russel Crowe as Maximus portrait and one wearing the mask from the battle of Carthage.
Also implemented on this figure are the Sovereign Studio leg and arm skins, and the hands feature real wrappings, with soft goods boots for a good range of foot posability.
Gladiator's always been a favorite film of mine and it's always bummed me that there's been no real collectibles depicting Maximus. I was very excited when Sovereign posted that a Maximus figure was in development and now having it in my hands and being able to make interesting photos and see a little Maximus on display is a real treat. This figure features a lot of attention to detail, the fine carving on the armor decorations is really impressive. Both sets of armor are cast in rubber and it's really impressive that from the outside, you'd never know, they each look like the respective textures they should. The finish on the mask is very nice, has a worn, weathered look to it and helps it feel like a mask that was laying around for gladiators to die in and not some precious armor for a champion. The sculpts do a very nice job of capturing Crowe's distinc look, no small task I'm sure.
Anyway, enough chit chat, here's what you really want.
