You're comparing drinking and driving to recasting and breaking intellectual property laws and I'm the one who needs logic to back up my arguments?

I really have no clue what you're motivation is, but at this point is looks like it's just a matter of arguing to win the feud, because I don't think you're connected to this subject as a fan or a collector.

Ok, I'm good talking to the hand

Look on the bright side.

Denny gets a lot of free publicity every time Redman uses one of their sculpts. :monkey1

Sorry, I couldn’t resist your s*** stirring.

Drunk driving=illegal
Understating tax returns=illegal
Littering on the freeway=illegal
Burglarizing your house=illegal
Welching on child support=illegal
Vandalism=illegal
Misappropriating copyrighted material=illegal

What’s not clear? Here’s a bonus:

Recasting a Hot Toys sculpt=illegal
Recasting an Iminime sculpt=???

Bias/pseudo-logic/emotion vs. truth/logic/fact/reason...why don't you stop drinking the cool-aid long enough to think about the issue more objectively?

What’s my motivation? Fairness and objectivity, but beyond that, how can you judge my connection and involvement to the hobby just because I don’t agree with you on this issue? You’re being pretentious to assume that you set the standard on who’s a collector or not, aren’t you?

And about the "negative rep feature," do you think you need your rating knocked down a bit because of your obnoxious posts? Or, "how can I even think that?" ...since you're the one with the right take on this issue?

Being this thread is about a Redman product and he has volume on his side and the usual retailers selling his stuff, this couldn't be bad publicity for Redman!

If you know anything about garage kit casting vs. factory casting, finished sculpts that are vinyl and hollow can only be made from machined and plated metal molds. Typical recasts are solid resin or even plaster. Therefore, if Iminime’s heads are solid resin while Redman’s heads are hollow vinyl or rotocasted PVC, it would actually seem that the recasting blame should be pointing the other way around.

I think i love you. I can't thank you enough for making me see the light. Hallelujah sister.

I can't believe that Trevor Grove and Denny were sat around and then suddenly thought, i know, lets recast the Redman sculpts................. three years before Redman even existed. I knew they were both BTTF fans, but i had no idea they actually owned one of those Delorean's.

They must have used magic molds too, because the molding process added a 5h1t load more detail. Can someone tell me where you get that magic molding stuff from, because i want to recast the missus...???

Unless they used a place saver sculpt, then waited for three years, then recast using magic thingy stuff. I reckon they must have then contracted the elves that work for Santa Clause, to get them into all the peoples houses undetected.

Jesus loves you all the same, so go buy the Redman. Post up those comparison pic's when you do. These i took in natural light, and everyone knows my photography is not good, but what the hell.

DISCLAIMER: It has been said that my spelling and grandma is not good. Personally i disagrey.

If every customizer obtained likeness rights for thier figures, there wouldn't be any. Not becuase they are greedy and they don't want to share, but becuase the owners wouldn't ever sell them becuase of the limited nature of the runs. It's not profitable for them. People complain endlessly about price in this hobby and also the amount of time it takes to release a figure. If everyone could get access to likeness rights, it would change the custom section completely.

Comparing resin cast heads to PVC heads, there is a pretty big difference. Resin has minimual shrinkage while PVC is actually pretty extreme. There are a few sculptors that will only offer heads cast made a few times from a mold becuase they degrade quickly after each pull. So 30 heads actually come from 10 different molds. Some may argue that's extreme but the sculptor wants to offer the best product possible so that's why they do it. That is a clear contrast to PVC modeling of mass marketed figures. That's why most prototype figures are actually resin casts. Even HT has great examples of loss of detail from original sculpts.

I've been in the hobby for good stretch, and I can't begin to count how many times I've seen pictures of collectors with custom figures and the actors they represent. And from the pictures it looks like the actors are really enjoying seeing them. I know that is a pretty general statement, but at the end of the day, most actors are artists. And I'm guessing they appreciate the art of the custom just like we do. But who knows.

My intention with this post is not to convince, but merely to share info.

You're on to something EJ! By George I think you've got it!

Exactly. It's not like Denny never wanted to seek out licences. I'm sure you've seen him say yourself that he was looking to go that route but couldn't afford anything more than $20000. Any licence worth it's salt will start at 3-4X that. And despite what people think based on the retail prices, these aren't high profiting items at the end of the day. Not only does he not profit what people probably assume he does, but some of these runs end up being only 30-40 sets. HARDLY enough to pay for a licence, or even to matter much to whoever's likeness or intellectual property is being "stolen". So yea, the small run custom world wouldn't exist because to be able to justify a license, you need to produce minimally 1000/2000+ pieces in a mass production factory situation.

And it's true, there are tons of pics of collectors with their figure and the actor and it's always reported as a positive experience. Sure, they may be a few who see it and think, "there better not be a lot of money circulating over this thing without me getting a taste", but I get the sense that they appreciate the fandom more than the few shillings they may or may not be missing out on.

Thanks for the breakdown, I really really really really didn't see where you were going with all of that at first. Now that I understand, I think I have one too. I'll play this one last time, but then I'm going back to talking to the hand, ok?

So if Iminime (and other similar customizers) creates the recast market like you say because there's a void made by the high price and limited nature, then maybe I should start slinging heroin and opiate prescription pills! There are definitely openings in the market and hey, if I don't get in there some other s__t-bag will! Why should he capitalize when I can!

Recasting = illegal/s__t-bag move
Selling opiates = illegal/s__t-bag move

Thanks for the lesson. I think I got it now.

OK, enough drinks for this guy

Seriously, but holy f___ I sure need a few more

Don't you dare step on my drugs market. How the hell do you think i afford them there customs in the first place.

If i ever see you on the same corners i send my mom and sisters to, to ply their trade i'll throw my Iminime doll at you. Well, i'll be forced to buy a recast and throw that one, but you get the idea...........................

Hey man, there's plenty of room for all of us!! Jump in with me and Denny. We have our eyes on this secret Redman release. We're going back to the future!!

Ultimately what superado is getting at is that theft is theft. Iminime stole something that did not belong to them. Redman stole something that did not belong to them. Just because Iminime did more work to steal something does not change the fact that it was stolen. Just because one feels that your theft has more legitimacy does not make it justified. Thieves taking from thieves doesn't change the wrong.
