1:6 Scale Sideshow Old Ben Kenobi

If Obi-Wan is a sign of what's to come production wise, this line is about to explode.

Its really quite scary. Jedi Luke brought me to SS, then I started noticing other formats (1/4 mixed media) and lines (SS LOTR, Medicom, Hot Toys, etc.) But now with Bespin Luke, Old Ben, and the upcoming ANH Han and Palps/Sidious I'm thinking of cutting out all of those lines I was going to "upgrade" to because the SSC SW figures are becoming what I wanted all along.

I'm still getting Indy no matter what.

Seriously though, that figure looks insane. Must be the best Star Wars figure I've seen just by photographs alone. I can't see old Ben not unseating whoever is the reigning champ as best SS SW figure so far. I can't wait to get this guy next week (hoping next week).

In my opinion, he'll end up unseating himself. Regardless of proto and film descrepencies, I've always regarded ROTS Obi-Wan as the best of the Star Wars line, Maul wasn't far off from him, but ROTS Obi-Wan turned out very well, there's character in the portrait, the costume is excellent, the accessories very well done. Sideshow shines with their Obi-Wan's. Trev, please sculpt AOTC and TPM Obi-Wan for us too

I'm slow. The first few shots kind of worried me. I cannot tell you how badly I want this figure to just kick ass. Outside of Maul Obi-Wan is my next fave and I cannot being to express how impressed I was with it @ SDCC. I'm more than happy to eat crow. The more shots I see this figure is at worst a 9-9.5

Really Trev... amazing work. The SSC Obi Wan's so far are the crown jewels of the SW line, and this Ben is the best out of the two so far. I've never ever been so happy with a production figure before. It doesn't NEED a repaint at all.

Not that I won't, but at least it won't need one.

Really, I know how you feel. When Maul came out I sad similiar doubts about it, even though everyone was just head over heels in love with it. I was just let down by the paint lining up wrong on the lips, just threw me off until I had it in hand and saw how easy it would be to fix.

Great pics, Trevor. They really show off that contemplative Guiness expression that you captured so perfectly in the sculpt. This figure really is the second milestone in this line, the first being Jabba. Every figure that comes after now will be compared to it and judged against it.

I guess I was pretty stupid for feeling the doubt I did. I should know better being the SuperFan.

Maul worried me as well but its as good as it gets in this line. For me my three faves are shaping up to be Maul then a Obi-Wan duo.

Can't give Trev and the rest of the SS crew that worked on Ol Ben enough praise. He looks incredible. I don't see anyone putting out a better version of this figure. Especially for the price.

I would put him up there with HT Endo Terminator and Medi Jango as best figures of the year.

It makes me glad that heavy hitters like Old Ben, Bespin Luke, ANH Han, etc. weren't released immediately. Imagine if ROTS Anakin or ESB Han had those paint apps, or if Jedi Luke had more proportionate arms and head like Bespin Luke. When SS decides to wait to release a major figure I trust that its for the right reasons.

I wish ANH Leia turned out better you can't win 'em all.

I can't wait to get the chance!! This sculpt is amazing... will probably paint itself if I leave it sitting close enough to my paint table.

This guy really is the best I've ever seen. All I'll have to do is give him a little more girth and sew him up a more accurate undershirt and he'll be perfect!

The sculpt is so good that you almost get a textured acting interpretation from an action figure!

That is my favorite shot too. They really hit a home run on this one. I didn't think it was possible to beat the PF but they might have done it. I'll know soon enough when I can look at them together. Hey, anyone want a used PF..... j/k Vader would look quite lonely without Ben. Seriously this is already my favorite figure to date and I don't even have it in hand yet. Come on Sideshow, make it a very merry Christmas!

Huge props to Trev, the folks at Sideshow and probably for the first time ever, our friends in China. As its been said before if this is an indication of the future of the SS SW line, we are in for one hell of an '08!

I'm really excited about getting this figure. I seem to get shipping notices every day from SSC, but the invoice saying what it is doesn't get sent until the next day, so this week as been a rollercoaster.

Tuesday - shipping notice - Is it Ben?
Nope - just that boring old Medicom Jango ing
Wednesday - another notice -
but it's just Rambo.
Friday, another one - could it be?
Nope - it's just that $300 HT Copperhead.

It seems Sideshow is trying really hard to get him out by Christmas, but it's just hard this late in the game. I give them credit for obviously trying so hard, but I won't be surprised if they can't make it. Besides, I already have Leia waiting at home, so at least I'll get something.
