My thoughts are all but confirmed that Sideshow is using Old Ben to test a new sales model to prevent the secondary market from being flooded with Old Bens.

You ask me, a lot of people usually cancel their order after seeing really, really, really bad loose shots by amateur photographers (like Anakin). Not meant to toot horns, but with Adam's and my images popping up before some horrid shot, there was only one case of falling skys :)

Therefore there are no figures available for Wait List

So uncivilized

Sorry D, but IMO it's the superior quality of this Figure and Trevor's amazing lifelike Sculpt that is the difference here. Even Crappy cellphone pics of amazing figs still come though as an amazing piece. It has been the case with Ben since SSC first showed proto pics of it, there was a collective OMG which emanated from Trevor's Sculpt and the potential of this fig.

It was clearly stated all over this board at the time and once people got wind that the paint apps were also great, thanks to you and others, it was case closed. This plus the popularity of such an iconic character. :D

Bottom line: Superior Quality

I received mine today. It' a really nice figure. The hair seems more yellow than the proto, which is nice. I did not have the problems with the elbow joint, but the hands are really hard to get on and off. Something is different with the wire in the hood also. I think it is longer and maybe doubles back over itself. I think this should keep the wire from poking through the material like my jedi Luke's did. The paint job on the face is really good; no slop or funky colored lips, just really good.

Pix, care to elaborate? Im not sure what's different about the current sales model other than SSC making figures that people want (old ben and bespin luke are probably the most wanted figures in the SW line other than armored villains) with a higher level of quality than previous figures....

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got on the waitlist only two hours after the PPO, and now I get an e-mail saying the waitlist is CLOSING and my reservation has been cancelled! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:monkey2:monkey2:monkey2:monkey2:monkey2

Yeah, I had a real bad feeling about the waitlist on this badboy.

But I just ordered the regular for $48 and Leia for $42. I'm happy with the regular.

Good thing you two waited to have a guaranteed, slam-dunk figure to showcase.

:D

:lol I liked Trevor's pics as well, just thought I'd mention that too. :lol But Adam's very first pics were comforting to all, no doubt.

The figure does appear to be really really really really really good. Something the first few pics that came out had me worried (Sorry Dave:eek:) Some of the more recent amateur photos have calmed my stupid fears caused by the first few. Cant wait to see mine in person next week and add to this thread with my own added doily shots. :lol

Bummer about the waitlist closing... maybe the days of (nearly) guaranteed conversions are behind us. Makes PPO days that much more important.

I don't know if they're behind us persay, Ben's just a case of a beautiful prototype and a beautiful finished product and a popular character, plus isn't the 1977 ES smaller than past Exclusive ES, so that could play into it too. I think a lot of people were "meh" about Leia, the first 1977 figure, but I think everyone is singing praise over Ben, many hailing it as the best in the line to date, so I wouldn't judge anything by him, he's an exception to the rules it would seem.

Old Ben: "Luke, trust me, you don't want it to be going beyond that friendly kiss she gave you to make Han jealous."

Luke: "I won't let you stop me Obi-Wan, I love her and I shall take her as my own and we'll have wonderful beatiful offspring together."

Leia: "Boys it was just a kiss, let's all put down the guns.

Old Ben: "You're not ready to hear what I have to say, just trust me, nothing romantic can come of you two."

I'd like to see them start doing more figures with the ES the year the movie came out. It kind of adds 2 the figure I think and will help reduce the amount of items out there overall I would expect.

It's neat that the ES is done by the year, but since I don't care how limited these are and they don't print an ES number on the 1/6 figures, it's not too important to me. if they had printed numbers, it'd be great to own the year numbers.

I GOT THE BENS...

Couple more, I'll leave the rest to Sean to show off this Masterpiece properly. :D

That wall works best for Old Ben Paul, has that ANH Tattooine look to it, very nice. He looks great, and it pleases me to not hear any reports of issues other than the elbows, which is easy to remedy, I feared looses wrists and the like that plagued the Bespin Luke bodies.
