What's so nonsensical about it? It's a helmet that also has a blast shield on it that you can put down to protect your eyes from the light of something like a bright explosion.

Because the average person has enough reaction time to throw down a sheild over their face when something explodes in front of them :)

But this is the STAR WARS universe, where sound carries through the void of space, and the average person's reflexes allow them to race flying motorcycles through a redwood forest at 200 mph!:lol

I just assumed it was like a welders helmet or an item Ben had so he could help train Luke someday. I especially thought the latter after seeing AOTC.

It never once occurred to me that it belonged to Ben. We see them leaving and getting onto the Falcon and it sure doesn't look like they have any luggage at all, much less a "maybe this will come in handy someday to train Luke" helmet.

It might very well be automatic. Or it might be used in situations where you know you will need to protect your eyes. We don't know. Yes it is a plot device, but I don't think it's completely nonsensical.

He definitely does that.

Any chance we can find out what you did to get his beer belly bouncing?

I had a couple of spare one-piece swimsuits left over from a TOMB RAIDER custom figure, so threw that on and stuffed the lower abdominal area with about 4 cotton balls.

Not as elegant as the other solutions posted here, but, hey...

Point taken. Disbelief set to suspended :)

In the interest of interstellar nerd amity, how about: the blast shield on a helmet can by lowered by hand, if you KNOW something's about to blow up, or, the helmet has a little sensor that deploys the blast shield like an automobile's air-bag.

Or maybe you only put the blast shield down in the event of a crash landing. Han didn't use his, that's why he's got that littttttle scar on his chin. Now, he keeps one handy in case of emergency landings.

OR: George Lucas thought a rebel helmet with an opaque shield was more science-fictiony looking than a blindfold.

Yeah but, what did you do to the figure?
:lol:lol:lol

Oh!

I popped the head off and put in on a Worthfield Real Guy body. Then I cut off the forearms and epoxied them to the new body so that I can use those fabulous SSC hands. I have the conversion down to under 45 minutes.

The Worthfield Real Guy body has (for those who haven't tried one yet) the ability to take 4 different 1/6 heads; it has an ingenious interchangeable neck post sytem.

It also has the most amazing shoulder articulation. Up, down, forwards, backwards. On Old Ben, I used a longer neck post and then sloped the shoulders down, to help compensate for the layers of clothing.

Exactly. Plot device

That's why I just didn't give it a ton of thought as you could tell.

Well, in what little thought I did put into it I just thought it might be Old Ben's. Never gave it too much one way or the other honestly. I just figured as I said it was a way to be forced into using the force.

Nice pics, AH. I'm not sure I care much for the longer neck. It almost makes him look younger than he should be. Does that make sense?

It does. But the way he looked right out of the box makes him look (to my poor eyes) like he has no neck, and is about 5' 3".

The giant brown turtleneck doesnt help affairs much. I'm going to get a brown shirt that is slightly more screen accurate, so that it rides at the perfect height.

I think the turtleneck does make his neck disappear. I wish I had mine to see first-hand. Do you know where you'll get the shirt from?

Someone change the ground to a sandy color in Photoshop and I think we can give SS a new promo image. That shot is just AMAZING Adam! :rock
