It does. But the way he looked right out of the box makes him look (to my poor eyes) like he has no neck, and is about 5' 3".

The giant brown turtleneck doesnt help affairs much. I'm going to get a brown shirt that is slightly more screen accurate, so that it rides at the perfect height.

Ahh, I see where your going with the neck now. Great outdoor shots by the way.

One small suggestion Adam:

Take down the brown tones on the beard a bit. It looks a bit Qui-Gonish the way you have it and I think it makes the figure look a little odd. Some more white might even it out...

It really is a great custom though :)

I think the turtleneck does make his neck disappear. I wish I had mine to see first-hand. Do you know where you'll get the shirt from?

If I don't end up making it myself, and I find one online, I will post the link on this thread for folks interested in doing a similar costume tweak.

:lol

I think it's a trick of the late afternoon light that's making it look darker than it is.

This is one of the images I was looking at while painting him, with two more figure shots that aren't under such dramatic lighting.

Guinness' beard was a bit of work. It's only 'white' around the chin, and a little bit on the edges of the mustache.

The rest is a mix of grays that are almost the same value, 'grayscale-wise' as his flesh. The areas where one would have sideburns are almost black, as you can see.

I'm not ruling out doing more work on it; just pointing out stuff.

And I really wouldn't call it a custom job..... it's just a nerd tweaking one of his toys.... Trevor, Heath, and all the Sideshow cats did the real work.

:D

Adam, great job! And you got rid of the George Hamilton tan! :rock

Dear Lord, yes. The Big Lesson learned on this one was: whatever color you mix for your flesh tones, always mix TWICE as much and save what you don't use. If you have a Clear Coat Catastrophe (like I did), then you can go back into your reserves and save your hard work...

Adam, I bet you can just fold the turtleneck collar down back inside the shirt and stitch a few places to hold and it will look fine. Maybe even a small roll in it for true accuracy since he does have a bit of a mock-neck thing going on there. I gonna do that to mine anyway, some stitching and ironing and it should hold a good shape.

The other big lesson learned was... don't paint your figures outside in 20° weather. :lol

Nice work Adam! I agree with you on the beard.... you did great work there, looks amazing. I know mine will be very similar when I have it in hand. :rock

Heyheyhey! I painted him indoors.... I was forced to step outside into Hoth-like conditions just for the Clear Coating..... :lol:lol:lol

But when it was 54 degrees last week, I redid it. And the exact same thing happened: trusty Model Master Flat Clear Coat (which has always worked perfectly) went on like doughnut glaze.

I did some online reading, and tried again but not thinning the Flat Clear Coat with Lacquer Thinner. Just straight glop. It worked OK. There's a hint of gloss on the figure, but Sir Alec had one, too.

Gotta get to the bottom of this! My custom ANH Leia, which I only did a month ago, came out perfect, with the exact same product.

I dunno.... I've been messing with this tunic of his..... it's some pretty thick fabric. If you look at ANH, Ben's undershirt looks to be a light cotton, almost T-shirt material. I think I can do better with some of these microweave fibers out there....

Thank you so much for the advice (no sarcasm intended whatsoever); but I'm gonna try an upgrade. If it fails... I still have the one that came with Ol' Man Kenobi....

Thanks!
