With watered down paints you can get a very smooth even finish but yeah a spray can be quicker. i normally mix the colour i want then water it down gradually and test it to get the right conistancy then use a big brush and slap it on. It doesn't take that long tbh.

I'd love to try using chalks like Hemble but i'm not familiar with the technique and I dont fancy practicing on this project lol.
BTW I went on photobucket last night and noticed Mark has all his Marine WIP pics all bunched together. It's a great library of pics for anyone working on their own :)

Hey Wanderer , have a go with the pastels , if you're not happy , they can just be washed off ! You can use them dry , as a powder , or mix them with a bit of water ( and washing up liquid ) and paint them on as a wash . When they dry , use either a stiff paintbrush or damp cloth to take away the excess . You'll be surprised at how easy it is to get good results . As for my marine , it's being brought "back to basics" even further ! A work collegue has lent me some Warhammer "manuals" which have inspired me to give him a more authentic Warhammer look . The thing is , I've had plans for a while to bash an original Thor figure and some of the features I plan on using seemed to have seeped into my marine design ! ( leather , fur bits, the hammer etc ). Rather than duplicate these details , I've decided not to use them . Hopefully I'll post some pics over the next couple of days .:wink1:

:panic: That sounds awesome Thundergod:hi5: Can't wait to see some updates!
Yeah the chalks really bring a subtle look to the figure which I really like. I'm guessing you need to then seal it to prevent it coming off? Thanks for the advice m8 :clap

The transfer worked ok and I like the banding on the print out.. I used a similar paint to make it look a wee bit worn... There is shed loads still to do but I think when its weather right this wee cannery marine will be ok...
