I think that sideshow could have taken another route on that stand. the DC characters had useless decals the least they could have done was something like this right?

These are some nice shots. Some of the most flattering that show the customary Plissken scowl.

But I can tell it's one of those sculpts that's frustrating to photograph, and no doubt does look better in hand.

Thanks, yes in hand it actually does look nice, you do have to let the lighting do its magic on the head and the likeness is there, the photos with flash removes all the natural shadows and exposes the snowflake eye, standing in the detolf under LED lights it really looks nice.

I can actually kind of see some Kurt Russell in these shots!
Especially that first one.

Its there, what hurts the likeness once again is sideshows refusal to stop with this separate eyeball thing, if the eye was simply painted onto a solid sculpt this could have been a great sculpt.

the HS is forgivable. the paintjob, still is crap. i'm put off with that hasbro beard paintjob.

This is a Hasbro beard:horror

Its not that bad:lol

This shot in particular looks like Kurt. More great shots Pete.

Thanks Snake:hi5:

Skull, where did you get the table seen in your review?

Hot Toys DX11 Joker came with it.

Overall lets face facts here folks. This is a lame attempt at a much beloved hero of early 80s filmmaking. I can't see Kurt Russell in that headsculpt no matter which angle you put it at. I know its a toy but it looks too much like a toy if you get what i'm saying. The paintjob on this figure is unforgivably bad and it requires a repaint just to make it look somewhat like kurt but who wants to do that? Most people I would say don't have the skills to do repaints. I'll always be looking at the shelf thinking ' what a letdown'

The accessories are cheap and not well done and overall the body proportions i.e the head size to body size is way off. It just doesn't cut it even at that price tag

Still waiting on maybe ht to do a proper snake figure but that could be a while. Wasted opportunity.

People shouldn't have to do any kind of work to make a figure look like the person, with other companies you don't have to do that. It drives me mad when people complain about accuracy when the figure usually looks fine out of the box like BD T-800 that becomes more of someone's personal gripe with a figure. I think people on here are trying to validate their expensive purchase and be positive about a lemon.

:lol HT isn't going to make one.

They've prolly moved on from cult characters not played by Arnold. Look at The Crow and how deep discounted he's been.

Do you work for Hot Toys? Nothing is ever set in stone, unless you are using some kind of magic ball that predicts the next 5 years. Another company could also come along in that time that has a amazing sculptor maybe Storm Collectables will make a movie icon series you never know. "Never say, never"

It is all about that eye. Fix that eye (paint, shadow, fire) and the likeness oozes out. Still not a very good sculpt, but not the dumpster fire that it looks like in some shots.

Y u mad, bro?

Thanks:hi5:

Thanks, I have and this will do, it could have be better, but it also could have been worse:lol

Here's my review

Nice review buddy and great pics! Still haven't decided if i'm going to pick this up or not. I may if a coupon comes out. I want a Plissken in the collection and who knows when i'll have the chance to get a 1:6 figure of him.

I dumped my rewards points on him, it only cost me 56 dollars shipped so I'm more than happy with my purchase, I think its a nice figure that didn't live up to its potential, it could have been a great but its not, its ok. There's a list of things I would have like to see done better most of all the eye. I wish Sideshow would just abandon that eye system, it hurts every figures likeness they use it on, Thankfully Plissken only has one eye:arr

I stand on that this figure does look nice on the shelf, under LED lights where the eye is in the shadow, its Snake:snake Problem is we have been spoiled by Hot Toys, they really make killer figures, Truth is sideshow today isn't half as good as Hot Toys was 5-6 years ago. IF they dropped the eyeball thing and could get a better factory paint job out the door it would go along way.

Case in point

I definitely agree. I have some reward points to dump on Snake also. I'm definitely thinking about it but I only buy it and keep it in the box packed away with my other figures. I don't know if I would display him. Snake would be a keeper just as a character who hasn't been made by a company besides Sideshow in 1:6. So much potential but maybe in hands i'll like it more. I do agree Sideshow has dropped the ball with many things. Licenses that don't get enough attention they **** it up but for there Star Wars line they really hit everything out of the ball park. Not Hot Toys but close. Sideshow use to make such great figures and now they don't anymore. At times they can but other times they really mess up. I'll be buying Snake but not sure for the future of Sideshow's 1:6 line. I'm afraid Indy will be ruined.

The peg for closing the holster broke off mine the moment I tried to put the revolver in the holster. I think instead of trying to get a new one I'm just gonna use magnets.

Good call... Snake is at about Hot Toys quality from 2009, and even then I'd still give the nod to HT as the likeness is better and there's more skin texture :lol But, we're essentially paying about 25% less than a current HT figure, but getting quality from 6 years ago :lol

Superman, Drake, and Snake all have jaws that are way too broad. I plan on changing that with Snake and hope it helps the likeness.

Man, that Supes looks awful.

You've seen Kurt Russel before, right? The man has a massive jaw. Always has. The big likeness problem is the eye shape.

Yup, I actually said there half as good as HT was in 2009:lol Its sad but true, guns are surprisingly a step back from what they produced with the GI joe line and eyeball system is ruining every sculpt it goes into. I actually really like SS to, they have pretty good licenses and even though most of there stuff is made in China they are an American based company and I want to see them succeed for that reason alone. I don't know who's making the decisions at SS, but damn they got to see this eye thing isn't working, stop using it:banghead
