This is by far the most disappointing figure i've bought in years.

Shame that there is literally no other snake options so it is what it is for now.

I tired to bring out as much kurt as I could with touching up the paint, eye, facial hair, fine details. I preferred him on a The Wolverine, color mached better, proportions better. Drake hands. weathered and restructured the jacket. weathered and dyed the pants.... really crap pics for now... i'll do better crisper ones in daylight soon

Think you've done excellent work here, jacket looks particularly good. If SS had put in the extra effort like you have here on Snake, I think it would have gone a long way in reducing complaints, returns and cancellations.

Those are some fine mods Raymond, i'd be very happy to have that on my shelf. The body swap looks good. I have a spare body from the LAPD SWAT set, with the seamless arms, that i was going to try.

Y u mad, bro?

The only thing I'm mad at is Sideshow and that they can't provide a human sculpt that actually looks good, even their comic book portraits look horrible. Superman and Batman look like the same guy and have the same lower jaw and mouth, its disappointing considering they have someone like Trevor Grove who can do a great Kurt Russel sculpt. Even the decals you (EvilFace)made for that custom base look better than what ended up on the final product.

But to say that they will never make another Snake is crazy talk, I mean people also said hot toys wouldn't make a Darth Vader but they did. Things always change so its funny when I read quotes like "must buy this figure there will never be another!!!"

100% better - if I'd got THAT I would have been over the moon! - amazing work! :clap :clap :clap

Still trying to summon the courage to open mine up properly - maybe if something is broken or breaks I can at least send this back - what a waste of time & money.

I totally agree with you on the "most dissapointing" thing. Sideshow cancelled the Elder Predator LSB AND the Predator 2 maquette . . . then THIS arrives - so I've finally turned the corner with these asshats :gah:

Brother, I think you are being way to hard on Snake. For a $150 figure today, it he pretty good out of the box (with no QC problems of course :lol )

The mods you did, made that average figure outstanding.

Wow, now that looks like Kurt Russell. Contrary to what I thought, the sculpt is definitely accurate. It just needs a good paint job to bring it out.

That is very impressive work, I'm loving what you did here, most of all the repaint, it shows that the sculpt is pretty much there and the main culprit is that stupid freaking eye that throws the likeness for a loop along with the cheap factory paint job.

If they could just get there production heads out the door looking like this I would have so many more pre-orders right now, X-wing Luke would be on the top of that list along with there new Indy.

Sideshow really needs to find a better painting factory, they ruin ALL their human sculpts

Sideshow historically has never been able to deliver a decent looking human portrait and great Sculpts by talented artists like Trevor always end up getting botched with crappy factory paints that end up making them look cartoonish (Indy). Sideshow should stick to doing what they do best (monsters) and leave the human figures to Hot Toys. It's inevitable that Hot Toys will do their Snake in about a year and everyone will be scrambling to dump this placeholder.

Ray's figure looks fantastic. That should be the template that repaints strive for - I really think you did as much as you can with that eye. The guyliner really helped it.

That's funny. Everyone was complaining about the Hot Toys Indy Guyliner and taking it off. :lol

Given Hot Toys' recent track record with releases, I'm guessing they'd be in no hurry to make this over more Marvel, Star Wars and Batman figures. Then again they just released a Johnny Depp Ichabod Crane out of nowhere, so who knows? Another problem is that other companies might not be able to get the license if Sideshow is sitting on it.

Of course that wouldn't stop the likes of Dam or Art Figures releasing a 'Fake Snakeskin: Urban Mercenary' figure...

I agree. Given Sideshow and Hot Toys now almost symbiotic relationship, I can't see them stepping on each other's toes by duplicating releases. You might argue SS and HT both are producing a 1/6 Vader, but with all due respect, with Snake and EFNY (both a character and movie I love) the customer demand wouldn't justify it IMO.
