How in the holy hell are people giving the sculpt this much flak? The comparison pics show even more how damn close they are.

Do this comparison to 99% of other figs out there and you will find way more inaccuracies.

Um, because this one just looks so much better (from Trevor's deviantart page):

I agree this new one is really damn close, and I will be buying it, but Trevor's is just much more instantly recognizable.

but Trevor's is just

Just awesome. No doubt about it. But... Not relevant in this thread. Honestly, if you guys want ThreeZero to take comments seriously, point out criticism using photos of the character from the show, don't compare their work to an unlicensed head sculpt done on the sly. Grove is a super talented artist, but I wonder if some of his unlicensed work may be costing him more lucrative licensed gigs.

The sad thing is that his licensed work in continually getting botched in production by we-know-who, and only customizers and those un-licensed companies are doing justice to the amazing pieces of art that are his headsculpts.

I don't know, seems kind of silly to pretend that it's not relevant. Unlicensed or no, it's another great Heisenberg sculpt and what everybody is comparing this to anyway. And I never got the impression before from this site that people were that picky or sensitive about comparing pics.

Or that this was a forum the ThreeZero people frequently visited or relied on for advice.

I would have thought that SSF being the world's biggest forum for this stuff, that they're almost guaranteed to come on and read these comments. Like all the makers probably do. I know for a fact that the smaller ones do at least.

Nothing wrong with constructive criticism done in the right way.

Fair enough. Although personally if I was a potential customer I would kind of WANT ThreeZero to see and be aware of better examples out there, so they would have something to compare against and maybe improve theirs.

And in any case, I've already said a couple times in here that I plan to buy ThreeZero's figure regardless. :)

Threezero should just go ahead and recast Trevors head, its perfect, anything else is just fail.

Not pretending, it's just disrespectful to ThreeZero. And I'm sure they know about other sculpts, most certainly including Grove's.

It would also be a shame to have a thread locked or deleted because the licensee or licensor got upset about the situation. It's not unprecedented.

To my knowledge the threads that have gotten locked are the ones advertising the unofficial product, not the official product (Snow, Sherlock).

Fact is, there has been a better sculpt of Walter out there, regardless of whether or not it was official or unofficial. I don't think it is any more disrespectful to point that out than it would be if Trevor's sculpt was official.

That being said, a slight tweak of the eyes and I think the sculpt is quickly up to par. I hope threezero listens to this.

Not even remotely.

This is a poop figure. Stupid 3zero. With their poop mouth. Why did they have to make this so bad? Why?! :'(

Haha Genuinely made me laugh. Stupid poopy heads. :rotfl

I still like it and will be buying as soon as their virtual doors are open :pfft:

Not even remotely.

That's good to know. It would still be nice for fans to see him being paid for more licensed work though. I'm into customizing and love to look at the custom work of others, but my hobby isn't really collecting super limited edition and high dollar value figures.

I really love this shot:

Me too. I'm trying to stay completely out of the critiquing on this one because I think what's been said by others about what's "wrong" with this sculpt is completely off the mark. I have a good idea of precisely what's causing some issues (it's clear when layers up with a real photo), but frankly, it's not that big a deal, so I'll try to keep it to myself. Hot Toys (and others) regularly put out prototypes and production results that are far more "off."

Even compared to the custom... it's just a little in the eyes. The face sculpt is on par with it. Paint apps on the proto 3Z looks better (though I'm no expecting production to be the same).
