It's a shame Star Wars became the multi-trooper -verse instead of having a lot more crazy aliens. The Phantom Menace really was the last Star Wars movie that had a nice assortment of crazy aliens -- like Sebulba and Jar Jar (hate 'em or love 'em).

hammerhead is an awesome figure to behold. I remember when I first opened this figure and was thinking man this box is huge. then I opened him up and said wow what a beautiful figure. I to wish sideshow would have continued to make more of these. that`s there problem they never commit to sticking with one line instead of jumping all over the place. like the clones for which they had a hard on for instead of doing nothing but clones they could have went back to do more aliens. look how long it took for the rest of the cantina band members to get finished. that`s my thought of it anyways. but back to the figure it is still one of my favorites. I like the sand hunch back feel and the soft goods head so it wont fall over cause of the weight if it were solid plastic.

Phantom Meance, for all it's faults, also did a great job of mixing new and old aliens as well. Aside from Chewie and weird looking Ackbar and weird looking Nein Numb, TFA aliens kind of felt not very Star Warsy. A Rodian or a Hammerhead thrown in somewhere would have helped a lot.

Agreed with the trooper variants - enough already. I think TFA started to bring back aliens pretty well and it looks like ep. VIII is going to have even more.

I was kind of hoping the First Order was going to be a little less specieist than the Empire was (aside from Sith) and we'd see some crazy stormtrooper armor to accommodate multiple arms, antennie etc!

But then, I guess HT would be foisting even more troopers on us.

Yeah, SSC should have done Rebo band, Ackbar, Snaggletooth, Walrusman etc - how sad they blew all that time on clones when we could have been paying $125 for cool aliens like this guy.

The sad thing is, even if they do any of those creatures in the future, they won't be much better than they would have been in 2010, but they'll be double the price.

You'd think all the cash the pulled in from endless trooper variants, both SSC and HT, they'd be able to afford to crank out some aliens for half decent prices. Sooo many of the OT aliens are literally just rubber masks and gloves. There's no way it would cost Sideshow much to produce them.

and get nothing else with the figure like any extra stuff just the figure and $275 dollar price tag slapped on it

That's the thing -- now that the baseline price is $250 for Sideshow, it's going to be hard to pay for a wonky Ponda Baba (sorry, Walrusman) or some of the other aliens that are cheap-looking to begin with but will come with an exorbitant price.

I've already chosen to skip the full line of Bounty Hunters for just that reason.

Let's face it, the days of unusual choices are likely gone for Sideshow. HT maybe, but for every GONK droid they tease -- and its not even up yet -- they offer 12-15 trooper variants first.

The required price tag probably killed that project. Three figures plus large instruments. Would be $799 minimum... and I think even Sideshow knows that only a few rich mofos and even less OCDers would pony up for that.

yep that was the reason I got out of collecting the star wars action figures repaints repackaging the same figure over and over. I think that`s what made me hate the clones and the pt trilogy. they took a product and produced it to far every clone you could almost think of bomb clone this clone that clone chocolate stormtrooper ceramic stormtrooper etc etc

Hoping they at least redo Greedo with a better set of clothes. At least that will be cheaper than the aftermarket price for that one. Same place I got hammerhead for $200 wanted $375 for Greedo.

maybe what they could have done for the max rebo band they could have done it like they did with the cantina band members sell them single to cut down on the cost. or sell one single and the other two as a two pack maybe to help reduce the cost or something

I didn't feel like SSC Greedo was very accurate - it's decent enough but just didn't really capture Greedo to me. It's also probably one that HT will eventually get to - he faces off with Han Solo, so he has some cache and with the "shot first" thing. Good marketing hook.

I've decided to just make most of my figures from now on (at least the ones that I can make a head for) - far cheaper and I can control when they arrive. I'm almost done with Walrusman (resculpted head, sculpted flippers, scratch-built gun) and just need to do my (custom head) Greedo's holster and vest.

The whole experience of buying 1/6 is going downhill fast - they tease an item that never gets made (Rebo, landspeeder etc) and even if it does get made, it will ship a year and a half to two YEARS after the tease and with SSC it won't match the proto, and the price thing - well, it's been discussed to death, but bottom line - a $250+ Walrusman or Ackbar ain't gonna happen. From both the SSC sales team's perspective and my own.:lol

After many many years boxed I finally got a shelf for my namesake. Had to break the seal on both sets :horror

He's still hiding in the dark though. Factory batteries still with a charge after 7 years :rotfl

One day I'll get a spot for poor Greedo still in his carbonite sarcophagus.
